| Raiders all the way.
Tantali if possible.
The triple Tantalus List is a terrifying prospect for any opponent.

| What is it that sells the raider for ppl? The extra dark lance? The added transport capacity, which gives added flexibility? Extra survivability?
Genuinely curious | |

I did a lot of mathhammering and my conclusion was that the Venom and Raider are surprisingly equal. So, if you want more Splinter fire get the Venoms and if you need more Darklight get a Raider. It depends on your meta and at least I need more AI, so I go for Venoms. I also like Venoms because they are more MSU and allow me to position a PGL wherever I need one. Speaking of Venoms, I would never go for the second Splinter Cannon unless you go for Splinter Cannon Trueborn too. 80pts for a Venom is not that bad and has very good speed and durability for its cost. And regarding Blasters, you should consider that the Venom's SC rapid fire range exactly matches the Blaster's range. In fact, I think the range of the Raider's Lance is ill used when mixed with Blasterborn.

| I still prefer use mines in venoms, they dish out a decent amout of poison shots in rapid fire range, and the malus to get hit is nice.
It's a matter or preference I guess

| On blaster born themselves, have you looked at having 2 dark lances in the squad instead of two of the blasters? Against anything with multiple wounds they are more effective point for point and by a margin, even woth the -1 to hit on the move | |

| I prefer sticking them in a Venom. 10 Trueborn in a Raider, especially if they're fully kitted out with special and heavy weapons, is a big meaty target that'll go down very quickly under fire. 5 in a Venom has done a similar amount of work in my games while being a relatively less attractive target. | |

| If Blasterborn, I prefer Venom. If you are mixing in some DL, then go with a Raider. First off, the Venom is surprisingly resilient. I've always felt that they were when playing so far in 8th, but there was a recent thread that clearly illustrated their resiliency!
Also, one of the biggest deciding factors for me is weapon range. I tend to run 2x Splinter Cannon on my Venoms (I know, overpriced, but I just love to get 2 wounds and reminisce about the days when they could put out some solid wounds). The 18" range on the Blasters pair VERY well with the 36" rapid fire SCs. Plus, the speed of the Venom is crazy good for a transport. I haven't done any research at all, but I'm guessing it's one of the fastest, if not THE fastest transport in the game (excluding flyers).

| I use Venoms with double cannons almost exclusively. They're resilient, fast, have no degrading profile and it's very easy for them to play the bulk of the game at 18", especially with Blasterborn, who just keep it really easy to avoid decision fatigue too (you literally HAVE to be at 18" or less to do anything).
Because they are typically not my opponent's first target (that honor goes to Flyers and Ravagers and sometimes even Beasts that are moving aggressively), they actually get to see more turns worth of shooting and once the enemy big guns are silenced they become even more difficult to remove.
Both our transports are great but what the Venom has going for it wins me over.

| Speaking of the speed of the venom: the space marine land speeder storm goes 18". 18! How annoying is that? And the giant lumbering craftworld wave serpent (compared to the lighter sleeker raider) goes 16" while the raider goes 14". It's hard not to feel like we take a back seat in a lot of instances.
Speaking on the durability: the -1 to hit for the venom is where it gets its durability. And the 5++. The venom however falls apart against auto hit attacks (flamers and smite) and melts in melee. Which brings me to the last unfortunate part of it all: the splinter cannon. 18" range is dangerously close.
But to end positive: I think DE are quite effective against casual space marine armies. The -1 to hit helps a ton against regular shooting. And moving 16" while still being able to shoot at full BS is super awesome and effective.
