| Hi all, I'm relatively new to table top gaming (Started playing AoS in February) and am looking to branch out into 40k too. Hsv8bg looked at the various armies Dark Eldar appeal the most on terms of fluff and looks, and the glass cannon style of gameplay looks interestin.
I'm thinking of starting by gettibg two start collecting boxes then picking up extra stuff for the below list but after reading up on the army and looking at comments here I'm not sure if I'm on the right track.
My plan is the Trueborn sit in their Venoms at the back providing Dark Lance and Splinter Cannon support while the raiders move into Blaster and Splinter Rifle range to kill stuff. Archons will walk and be used to sit on objectives.
I figure I've got plenty of Dark Lances to kill tough stuff and enough massed shooting for lighter enemies.

Walking Archons does not seem like a brilliant move in my opinion, especially if you're going to bother paying for Aggie upgrades to them. I would suggest that by dropping the Aggies and putting a blaster on each Archon you'd do better for yourself (you could pay for this by dropping some of the random bodies you're paying for, and then pack the Archons into the Raiders with the other Warriors for overall a better shooting platform. Or just buy another Venom.Raider and pack two Archons on that for lulz. - Bonesplitter wrote:

. 4x Kabalite Warrior . Kabalite Warrior with special weapon: Blaster . Sybarite: Splinter Rifle The biggest issue to your list I see here is that you're buying 6 man Kab units - which means you can't pack two of them into a Raider like you appear to intend. Since you only need 3 Troops to get a Battalion, I would suggest going 2x 5 man squads with a Blaster and hook them up with the Blaster Archons I described earlier. You could then footslog a third Warrior squad (maybe buying it up to 10 men with a lance) and use that to sit on objectives. - Bonesplitter wrote:
- Kabalite Trueborn [8 PL, 117pts]
. Dracon: Splinter Rifle . 4x Kabalite Trueborn . Trueborn with Heavy Weapon: Dark Lance . Trueborn with Heavy Weapon: Dark Lance You're paying for 7 Trueborn here and looking to put them in Venoms with a max transport capacity of 5 - that's not going to work too well Drop two bodies off both of these squads. - Bonesplitter wrote:

Raider [6 PL, 116pts]: Dark Lance, Shock Prow
Venom [4 PL, 95pts]: Splinter Cannon, Splinter Cannon
Venom [4 PL, 95pts]: Splinter Cannon, Splinter Cannon These are fine. So overall my suggestion would be to; Drop 1 squad of Warriors entirely. Drop 2 Aggies off Archons Drop 1 Warrior off each remaining Warrior squad. Drop 2 Trueborn off each Trueborn squad. Then add Blasters to Archons and use one Warrior squad as your footslogging option. When looking to expand your list I would advocate looking first to Ravagers.

| Thanks for the feedback Thor.
I think I've misunderstood how Battlescribes units work. I didn't realise adding the heavy weapon also added another model; wondered why I had to pay 11 points first.
I'll look at trying out the amendments you recommended.

| I've taken a slightly different approach now I'm using battlescribe correctly. Trueborn with blasters and lances along with an Archon in raiders. Sybarites in the raiders to be used to chuck grenades.
Three units of Kabalites to move forward as a screen in front of the raiders.
Agonizer is the cheapest option for the Archon in Battlescribe. They don't seem to be able to go without a melee weapon.

| That a lots of points in your raiders. I'd recommend rather going Venom born (5 guys in a venom ^^) Also be sure to move your stocks warriors without transports in cover. I'm playing some too (I like a backline dark lance shot sitting on an objective) and I'm usually satisfied with them ; but they can drop really quick if focused. Also don't forget to spread them during deployments. Those are really sensitive to deepstriking elite melee units. And most importantly : have fun | |
