That's a very interesting idea, and probably one worth using. With the large footprint of fighters if you take just two you're cover a solid part of your deployment zone. I'm not sure they can 100% replace cheap screens but using fighters as screens is something I'm going to play around with.

One issue to consider, after turn one fighters can't screen very effectively since they have to move forward at least 20". It should keep you good for a turn but after that might be tough, though maybe if you angle the fighters well during deployment you can manage to keep them around as a screen for longer.

my suggestion on other thread which i was asking a question on too, was how about using medusae

fewer drops as they can be placed in transports, cheaper and can still move forward and help out in turn 3 if you went 2nd, or turn 4.

turn 1, 4 medusae get out  of transports and move to their positions, your back field is locked down and you now have an 18 inch null deploy to your back board forcing your enemy to come to your front, they cant be targeted unless someones brave enough to try and fly back there as they are characters, suicide mission for any flyer, but if the flyer is targeting medusae and not what it should be then my opponent just gave me an easy target and wasted shots on worthless models.

so now all you have to do is screen the front of your army if you so choose, with beast master units etc.
You could get more inventive with vehicles and push their deep striking range right back into their own deployment, by the way don't be stupid here, know your opponents army before being rash like this.
this then would provide you a massive area to retreat back into once the deep striking has finished. basically push forward, retreat then counter strike.

It definitely works but, if your opponent has heldrakes, Tyranid flying creatures, or mass jump pack style units that makes them vulnerable to assault first turn.

Fair point, that just means you need to not completely rely on razorwing fighters in the event that you'll be facing any of those units.
