In a separate topic on math hammering deepstrike odds, Mppqlmd made a point that got me wondering if I've been doing my deep strike and charges wrong so wanted to ask all here how they've been doing it (and didn't want to derail that thread).
So you deepstrike "more than 9" away" from your opponent. And in the charge rules you have to charge "within 1" to be able to attack.
I had always measured such that there was exactly 9" between my unit and my opponent when I deep strike (as such there was 9" between our bases, and hence I was more than 9" away).
So then an 8" charge would put me exactly at the 1" mark. (so "within 1 inch").
Based on the discussion in the other thread, I'm no longer certain if this is right, and whether others have been playing the same way or not.
So 2 questions I guess:
1. On the deepstrike do you place your units right at the 9" mark? or are you going slightly beyond that.
2. Are you all playing it that if you are exactly 1" from your opponent, you're engaged.
Thanks all!
(and thanks Mppqlmd for the thoughts on this already in the other thread!)
