Hi all,
Prettymuch what the title says. I think I've settled on at least a core idea of a competitive list and want to get some feedback.
Don't be nice! This would be for competitive play in local tournaments I've found happening.
Here's the list, and below I'll explain how it should work (but it's fairly straightforward)
Battalion - 1999 pts

- Haemonculus - Electrocorrosive Whip, Crucible of Malediction

Dedicated Transport

- Venom, 2 Splinter Cannons
- Venom, 2 Splinter Cannons
I opted for Haemonculi over Archons for the Crucible - this will probably change if Brimstone Horrors are no longer a thing, but for now the Crucible is pretty nasty against such a list. In addition, with the new Chapter Approved character rules, I can do some serious area denial shenanigans by keeping something like a Venom out of LoS and having the Haemy in plan sight as long as the Venom is closer to the enemy gunline.
Kabalites are no surprise, poison fire from the Venoms and mobile ObSec.
Beastmaster + Fiends - these are the Webway units. As best as I can tell, Clawed Fiends are the most versatile drop - they're comparable to anything else against GEQs, and keep their effectiveness against MEQs and TEQs as well - I can use them for smashing into weak infantry, or countering deep striking heavies like Obliterators and Terminators. Also great against bikes. Not a whole lot of staying power, so I'm open to suggestions here.
Mandrakes - most point efficient Toughness 3 killers we have, will hit the Conscript screens hard if needed, or plink something off an objective.
You already know what Ravagers do. I opted for the Voidraven over the RWJF because of the void mine, mostly. Dark Scythes are pretty versatile as well, retain effectiveness against T7 and T8 compared to Dark Lances but also have volume of shots to be good at heavy infantry as well, plus a nice D3 damage for Necron shields.
The only potential weakness I can see now is maybe a lack of Lances, I'll have to play pretty conservative with the ones I have. That's only 17 if you count Scythes (which I do as they're mathematically pretty close). Maybe a little light for a 2k list, but I'd have to drop either Mandrakes or the Webway units to get more. I could maybe consolidate the Kabalites into 2 Raiders with Lances and maybe even go for Lances on the Kabalites? Isn't ideal but there is plenty of target saturation for big weapons with the two flyers anyway.
Lay it on me!
