| So I have been away for a couple of editions, I bought a box of kabalite warriors today on the spur of the moment and I have been checking out lists online. I watched a couple of games today and it looks like fun. But after reading through some lists I'm not sure if I can build the DE army I want anymore. My plan was to build a Kabal with plenty of warriors and an CC oriented archon. Maybe throw in some models for his court and incubi and trueborn. Is this not viable anymore? I'm not looking to be super competitive just a decent army to have fun with and not get tabled. Any advise would be appreciated | |

| Plenty of warriors is one of our more viable lists at the moment. I think it's certainly undeniable that they're our strongest troop choice.
Incubi, Trueborn and the Court are all okay at the least. The Court might be very good (they just got buffed in the Chapter Approved supplement which just released). We've only got a few units that are outright bad as opposed to "slightly overpriced" or "needs a buff of some kind"; I'd consider Reavers and Talos to be that, so as long as you stay away from them you'll be fine.
The big thing you'll see in competitive lists currently is lots and lots of Dark Lances, because they're one of the big things we have going for us - so Scourges and vehicles and sometimes Trueborn. But I wouldn't worry too much about that currently; there's a good chance our list is going to get a shake-up once our Codex releases, which should be in just a few months.
Just build what you'd like, and most importantly have fun!

Ravagers are our best unit IMO Archon, if you want serious CC, agoniser and blast pistol is my advice. ive never tried the pistol but ive heard a lot of good things about it Courts just got cheaper, 3 medusa and a sslyth will/would be mine (sslyth might not make it due to points) Webway portal with 10 incubi could be good. its about 55% chance you get in with them, so webway them out of LOS the turn prior to wanting to get into combat, or risk it for the biscuit. If you can be out of LOS and 9" away, thats even better b/c you can give the charge a shot without taking overwatch

| Thanks for the quick replies. Cool, sounds like the kabalites are ok. So I have time to get the army built up before the codex drops, I can get plenty painted then. I tend to go with he models I think look cool. I really like the sslith, so I wouldn't mind having some of those. One thing, and it's probably gonna sound odd but I am not a huge fan of the agonizer, isn't that the whip? I would much rather model my archon with a sword, or anything else but a whip. Is the huskblade not an optimal piece of wargear? | |

| The agoniser is often modelled as a whip, however I believe it has been stated in the fluff that an agoniser can come in a variety of forms, so this can give you some room for conversions. As for the huskblade it is considered by most to be a fairly poor choice | |

| Yeah Kabalite army is the most viable army at the moment
however with trueborn i prefer just to bring two 5 man squads with 2x lance per squad as a fire base. Its the same price as the blaster venom squad, as everyone has been saying bring lances and blasters with preference to lances when possible.
basically, ravagers, incubi, our flyers, trueborn, warriors, mandrakes, archons and the court work well. courts new point changes make them very usable now, Also archons are not great in HTH, you want to sit back using his blaster until he's needed or ideal situations with the right support mean he will easily win in HTH, sure he has a 2+ inv but somehow i always seem to roll 1's on his first save lol, he's a devil with a blaster though, go figure...

| If you want a sword agonizer, take the power sword from the kabalite box and give it a poison green blade (there are pieces in the fluff about agonizers being whips, swords, spears, knives, it's basically an agonizer because it has a special toxin release chamber to cause excruciating pain to the target, it's just most commonly modelled as the whip) This way you will also have him equipped with blade you can interchange as a huskblade whenever you wanna try it. | |

| Oh ok, cool to know that! Thanks a lot everyone. That's what I will do, model it as a green sword. It sounds like all the units I like in the army are viable, at least for now. | |
