| Hello everyone, I just had a blast playing a weekend-long tourney. It was designated as "fluffy" but no restrictions were placed on it save for one - no LOW. The armies were supposed to have fluffy feel, but some armies can bring cookie cutters while being fluffy. The tourney consisted of 5 battles. 3 of them at 1250 pts, while one of those were 2 on 2 and 2 remaining battles at 2000pts. I will be covering the 1 on 1 battles with the 2 vs 2 last as it is the least interesting IMO. Plus I had a 2000 friendly battle with Death Guard with Mortarion on friday eve... I will do that one as a bonus, coz it was very interesting. What was different was the missions and objectives. So here is the summary: OBJECTIVES AVAILABLE EACH BATTLE:
- Wipe is not worth any VPs.
- One mission - the 2 on 2 had no objectives AT ALL save for King of the Hill.
- First Blood (1VP), Linebreaker (2VP), Slay the Warlord (2VP) were standard in all other missions.
- Revenge (1VP) for killing an unit that scored your enemy First Blood.
- Seize the Ground - 2VPs for controlling 2 odd and 2 even objectives (once per battle).
- Kill the Witch! - 1VP for killing a psyker (once per battle).
- Kill the Big One - 1VP for killing a MC or Vehicle (once per battle).
- Slay the Clone - 4VPs for killing a named character (once per battle).
- Capture objective 1 through 6 - 1VP (once per battle)
- Defend objective 1 through 6 - 1VP (once per battle)
OBJECTIVES AVAILABLE ONCE PER TOURNEY:
- Blitzkrieg! 4VP - During your first round all your units have to move for the full Move value towards the closest enemy model.
- Hiding Tactics 4VP - During your first round, your models may not move at all.
- Killing Spree! 2VP - One unit has to kill an unit that would generate KP for 3 consecutive rounds.
- Afix Bayonets! 5VP - Your non-cc unit kills enemy's cc unit in close combat
- Assassinate 2VP - At the beginning of the battle nominate one enemy character, which you need to kill. If you fail, the mission cannot be used in subsequent battles.
- Betrayers! 5VP - During your first round kill one of your units with shooting. For this one purpose a friendly fire is allowed.
SPECIAL DARK ELDAR OBJECTIVE Slaves! - For each unit destroyed in CC (not morale after CC) - 1VP SPECIAL STRATAGEM - Twice per tourney, 0CP cost Nominate enemy unit. Your poison shooting has +1 to Wound that unit for 1 round. OTHER RULES: First round is determined by a roll with the side that finished deployment 1st gets a +1. No seize.

| BATTLE 1 - 1250 pts AGAINST CHSM1250 Wych Cult - Outrider Detachment, 4CPs
- Succubus with Glaive and To-Hit Drug (S)
- 5 Wyches with Strength Drug, Agoni (WS)
- 5 Wyches with Attack Drug, Agoni (WA)
- 1 Empty Venom (V1)
- 1 Str Drug Wych Venom (VWS)
- 1 Att Drug Wych Venom (VWA)
- 1 Succy Venom (VS)
- 6 Reavers with Toughness Drug, Blasters, Caltrops (RT)
- 3 Reavers with Move Drug, Blaster, Caltrops (RA)
- Ravager
This is my Wych Cult fluff list. I know the Scourges dont really fit, but I didnt have more Reavers. :-( I'd totally play them otherwise. 1250 Night Lords CHSM
- Belakor (BE)
- Chaos Lord with Lightning Claws (CL)
- Sorcerer with Jetpack (SJ1)
- Sorcerer with Jetpack (SJ2)
- 10 Cultists (C1)
- 10 Cultists (C2)
- 10 Cultists (C3)
- Defiler (DF)
- Contemptor (C)
- Land Raider Proteus with Lascannons, Havoc and some smaller gun (LRP)
- 5 Havocs with Heavy Bolters (HA)
- 5 Lightning Claw Terminators (LCT)
- 5 Lightning Claw Chosen (LCC)
I was a bit scared seeing it across the table, but I had a chance and if I did not make some choices and if me and my opponent knew one particular rule better, we would have much more even match. It was an opponent that was voted "best fun to play against" so I was actually looking forward to it as he is really great guy. To explain some of the strangeness in scoring - neither of us realized that you actually CAN score objectives in you opponent's turn. So the battle would turn out actually better in my favour (since I'd score more defends), but since we both did that wrong, we just decided to keep it that way at the end instead trying to figure out the correct figures from memory. DEPLOYMENT There is not much to explain here. Standard Dawn of War. I decided to go for the Hiding Tactics special objective and deployed pretty defensively. He deployed on his 2 objectives (under C1 and HA). The Termies went to Reserves along with one of the Jump Pack sorcs. Chaos Lord and LC Chosen went into Proteus. I put both Blaster Scourges into reserves. This battle in retrospect seems pretty clueless from my side. The others went better, I promise. A note on terrain - the walls are actually ruins with stories in the corner. And Windows. So dont be surprised when I say that this or that unit went up or when you see units shooting through. We roll off the T1 with him getting +1 and he wins, which is fine by me as I'd let him go first anyway. He also declares my Succy as target for his Assassinate special objective. TURN 1 - CHSM So the marines of dread move up the board with the exception of Havocs and Cultists sitting on the objective. Second Cultists reach objective near them. Chaos Lord disembarks from Proteus to aura-buff the stuff around. Casting sees half of the magic not cast due bad rolls but there is not much to cast but to buff the Defiler as he is the weakest (and profits most of it), since he moved. Prescience I think went off on him. Shooting from defiler puts some wounds on my Ravager as apparently a tip of the tail fin was visible (hello 8th edition LOS). Further shooting kills one Reaver with Battle Cannon and Lascannons and the Contemptor canon puts some wounds on two Venoms. So he scores Capture on 3 objectives. I should have scored 1 VP on Capture Obj 5 but I already explained our error. Oh well... I end up being pretty happy as his turn did not accomplish anything important. BTW on the picture the stray skull should be on the Toughness Reavers and the Move Reavers should not have that arrow. Blame my Battle Chronicler skills. Score DE-CHSM: 0-3 TURN 1 - DE Sooo. As I said, I was going for Hidden Tactics special objective, so I did not move and just shot away. Dont mind the skulls on my units. They should not be there ofc. Again - my Battle Chronicler proficiency is low. I have put some wounds on Cultists and some on the Defiler, but yea... 3 lances was all I had on the board in range. Scored Capture 5 plus the special objective for 4VPs. Score DE-CHSM: 5-3 TURN 2 - CHSM Everything shuffles including Cultists on the objective 4 while keeping them within its range for Defend. Cultists 2 are still in range of Objective 6. My oponent forgot whole Psychic Phase, but there was not much to cast anyway. Shooting sees more wounds on Ravager, one killed Movement Reaver and destroyed Succubus Venom. She unloads outside of LOS. CHSM score Defend 6, 2, 4 and Kill the Big One. Score DE-CHSM: 5-7 TURN 2 - DE So the fun begins, things Move forward. Reavers up flank, charged the cultists on reroll, keeping the small unit out of LOS as I felt it will be needed. Succubus advances directly above the objective on a floor without windows as she rolled 6. Damn she can be fast. Some Venoms advanced on objectives. Shooting saw some cultists dead, the C3 unit ended on 2 models after morale, nothing from lances. I decided to keep scourges back still as his reserves were yet to arrive. My Reavers botched both shooting and assault leaving one man standing, depriving me of 1VP for Slaves but I did CaptureObjective 4. Scored Defend 5, Capture 3, Capture 1, Capture 4. Score DE-CHSM: 9-7 TURN 3 - CHSM Not much movement. Lots of shooting. Contemptor moves towards objective 5 and kills the Venom there, Defiler kills Ravager. Lightning Claw Terminators drop in corner and roll the charge with reroll, swiping my bikers aside, consolidating further (srry for the missing arrow). His another Jump Pack Sorcerer drops in LOS to smite my Succy, but she laughs as he rolls too low. Lightning Claw Chosen unload from Proteus. I kept wondering why Belakor keeps so much to himself, but my opponent told me that he tends to botch his saves even with the rerolls. :-) No scoring for him this turn. Score DE-CHSM: 9-7 TURN 3 - DE Str wyches get out of the Venom, which charges ahead to eat overwatch. Now the picture shows it badly as Belakor was actually close enough to use Heroic Intervention into the Venom, which was a bad mistake to make. Wyches charge behind and start chopping. They kill off enough cultists to score the objective 6, but not enough to score the CC kill VP. Remaining Cultists run off on morale. Shooting prior charge from the Venom sees the Cultists 3 killed off. Both my Scourges come in. First ones to shoot the Contemptor coming for Objective 5 and second to Shoot the DSed Jump Pack Sorc for Kill the Witch Objective. The Contemptor is wounded but Sorc did not get a scratch... *sigh*... I decided to go fluffy and didnt leave Succy to score defend 3, but charged her into the Chosen screaming MURDEEER! She kills 4 of them in the charge with her +1A on charge trait and laughs off the remaining clumsy oaf. My Wyches, Venom and Movement Reavers charge the Havocs, scoring 1VP for CC kill. I scored Capture 6, 2 (coz I was close enough). Score DE-CHSM: 12-7 (seems still good, but well... you will see...) TURN 4 - CHSM This turn saw my defeat. The Belakor actually killed the Venom on my turn during his Intervention and was already consolidated in my Wyches at the beginning of this round so he attacks and kills... 2 wyches... My opponent was like... WTF? And that is where I realized the full extent of the mistakes I made since the beginning. Contemptor steps on the objective 5 and shoots off some of the scourges. I was already in defeated position in my mind as I knew what will happen and illogicaly didnt leave the scourges on ground floor to keep him from capturing it due to models number. Never cease to struggle guys! Lightning Termies did make a long charge on reroll and murdered the other Scourges. Succy died to smites and Lord. Venom blows and combination of smites and shooting sees everything in that corner die. He scores Kill the Warlord for 2, Capture Objective 5, completes the Assassinate for 2. EDIT: Also Capture 3. The sorc is shown moving too far. Score DE-CHSM: 12-13 At this point I conceded since there was no point. I had only wyches and few Scourges on the table. We only played through the Wyches combat for fun. I let him write down points for Defend 5, Capture 1, Defend 3 and obviously Linebreaker. He would easily make the captures and defends if he let my Scourges alone as they couldnt possibly harm him. FINAL SCORE: 12-18, which translates into 7-13 in Tourney Points. FINAL NOTE: You all see what I did wrong, right? I should have been much more agressive with my vehicles, bumping his Proteus to prevent a lot of damage done to me. Wyches should not have gone cultist hunting and should have focussed. They could pin down the Defiler nicely. I would prevent him from getting shots at my Ravager, while I could use it to kill the Contemptor for example, preventing the Linebreaker and some other VPs. I could have easily pulled of a draw and with luck a minor victory. I dare say the lesson was learned for later battles. Thanks for your patience and next report will be Kabalite Attack Force 2000pts against Dark Angels Mech with Dickery Auras and sprinkle of Ravenwing... :-)

TERRAIN It was supposed to be some mechanicum plant/storage yard. Lots of boxers and relatively low LOS blockers. No going up on them except for flyers, which made me happy and I felt confident that I can make my movement work for me. It limited the maneuverability of the tanks quite a lot and was one of the factors that won me the game, however little would change with different terrain thanks to my opponent's playstyle. MISSION There was a special perk to this mission. I got a DA character as a reinforcement of my army. He was worth 2VPs to me if I can keep him from the enemy and 2 VPs for my opponent if he kills him. Again, very unfavourable for him, so I decided that I wont use any of the Special Objectives. DEPLOYMENT As you can see, he deployed in Azrael's Aura, giving everything near 4++ and Darkshroud Aura, giving everything -1 to hit. He did a mistake with Rhino 1 as he thought I will let him pass between the terrain even if the tank does not fit there. Inside that Rhino were the Storm Bolter Vets (VSB) and Plasma Vets (VP) I did not. :-) Another mistake was putting Devs 1 and 2 on the objective back there where they could not do squat. One objective is hidden under Khymerae 1 (K1), another under the Devastators DE1. My deployment was all the way in the back since I wanted him to have T1 and send bikers ahead, where my Venoms waited for them and I suspected he will move only at Azrael's speed trying to keep both auras up for as much stuff as possible and scoring very little beyond capture and defend his own objectives. I knew that I actually do not need to kill much stuff, so I did not care about the auras. The "Hunted" DA I placed in the furtherst corner ofc... We rolled off, I won and let him go first. TURN 1 - DARK ANGELS As expected. Bikers ahead, some careful shuffling to keep within auras, Rhino circling around the back. Shooting put some rather lucky wounds on Ravager. I think 4. 3 Trueborn died to bikers shots, but Lances stood. Otherwise nothing as everything moved. Devastators were in sooo bad positions that they couldnt shoot at anything. He scored Capture 2, Capture 6, Capture 1. I scored Capture 3 Score DE-DA: 1-3 TURN 1 - DARK ELDAR Preparation to strike... I repositioned to get LOS or hide or to get closer to execute my plan. Poison shot off the 3 Ravenwing bikers, denying the Defend there. Ravager shot Predator as he did not have Darkshroud in range, Raiders, RWJs, shot Darkshroud to little effect. Devastators DE2 got rocketed from RWJs but I rolled so badly... Killed like one guy maybe. I scored Capture 5, Defend 3. He scored Defend 2 and Defend 6. Score DE-DA: 3-5 TURN 2 - DARK ANGELS The pattern continues to my liking. Bikers ahead, probably aiming to get down to the Hunted DA in the corner. Yea... sure I will let you... :-D Shooting got some results, killing 1 Venom and Ravager which I was perfectly fine with as I did not need him and exposed him on purpose to get the opponent waste shots on something that will become irrelevant next turn anyway. So far so good. He scored Kill the Big One. Oh, he also wounded a raider. Irrelevant. Score DE-DA: 3-6 TURN 2 - DARK ELDAR Lets bring the pain... Larger units of Khymerae turned back to cut off the Ravenwings. Raiders went in and charged the Predator. Third Raider went up to see Darkshroud. Venom charged the Rhino. Small unit of khymerae waited for the second Rhino. Razorwings killed off all but one Devastator from DE2. More wounds on Darkshroud. I only scored capture 1. He scored nothing. Score DE-DA: 4-6 TURN 3 - DARK ANGELS He now realized what I have done. He could not go forward without either exposing Azrael (as I would undoubtedly finish off whatever was in the way of Kabalite shooting and I still had Scourges in Reserves), which would give me a ton of CPs, had to fall back with half of his AT, or he would have to move the Dreads, further damaging his shooting potential. So he unloaded the Vets and the Captain (dont ask me how he fit in 11 dudes in one Rhino, I decided that I dont care). He shot all he could at the Raiders, killing one, wounding another. Kabalite squad emergency disembarkation went smoothly. :-) He scored Capture 5. I scored Defend 1. Score DE-DA: 5-7 TURN 3 - DARK ELDAR Time to take some slaves. Unloaded second Kabalites and shot-charged both squads into Veterans. Khymerae followed suit and both squads were mowed down with no reprieve possible to 1 model each (the shooting was pretty bad). The only one who could change that was Azrael, but I DSed Scourges nearby and they would punish him for his intervention next turn. Said scourges killed Rhino, Planes killed Darkshroud, Venom disengaged and killed Devastators DE1 along with RWJ rockets. Khymeraes went to jump the Ravenwings, but one squad was shot off by Overwatch (damn lucky) and the second was wounded and destroyed in CC. So that didnt go well. I got worried about the DA Hunted. The third Raider with Kabalites still on board charged both Dreads, removing them from shooting next turn as it survived the CC. Wounded Raider near Predator rammed him again for next round of impotence. Spare Venom went to bump in Rhino 2. He scored Defend 5. I scored Kill the Big One. Score DE-DA: 6-8 At this point my opponent conceded as I explained my intentions to get 10+ VPs in next 2 turns. We only moved and rolled to see if I could finish off the Ravenwings since they were unable to charge the DA Hunted next round. Rockets, poison, Lances from Lanceborn, Blaster butchered all 6 easily while Archon was there ready to charge anything that remained. So I got 2VPs for Hunted objective. We also finished the CC with Vets, scoring me another 2VPs. As I would unload the Kabalites and capture objective 4 or just moved scourges there we agreed that I will write down Capture and Defend Obj 4. Linebreaker obviously and Seize the Ground as it would be easy for me to do it. He added First blood and another objective I dont remember really. Sorry. I should have added Capture and Defend 6 and Defend 5 now looking at it. I even could get at least capture 2 too by unloading ObjSec troops on it and using Scourges to get me No. 4., but whatever FINAL SCORE DE-DA: 16-10 which translates to 13-7 in Tourney Points. I tried to play this purely on objectives ofc. He made this badass aura moving castle and expected everyone to break upon its walls. He did not expect that I wont really care and just shoot it for the lack of better target. Guys bump your boats, its so awesome thing that I don't ever want another boat. Warriors in melee on T3? :-D Its sooo funy when they start chopping up veterans... One more thing - this was a classic example of having a "strong" list with not much knowledge of how to play it. There were many things that were not in his favour, but his list was simply not build to cope with different missions and approaches and he was firmly set into only one style of play which could not work in this case. So another one behind us. Next one 2000pts against Necrons with Monolith and Nightbringer... Stay tuned.

- 4 Scarabs (S3)
- 3 Destroyers (D)
- Monolith (M)
- 10 Flayed Ones (FO)
TERRAIN Another ruins table. Again - some ruins have stories. MISSION Nothing special on the mission save for my decision to shoot off my own Khymerae to get the Betrayers special objective as I had only 2 battles to play. DEPLOYMENT I started deploying the Khymerae on the right, I purposefuly put one of my objectives near him and on the right (no 1) with intention to mislead his deployment and cover my intentions. BTW that also led him to place objective 6 out of cover in Nightbringer's path. Combination of those things brought out his Nightbringer, Scarabs and some Warriors. Objective 3 was in the 2nd floor of its ruins. Objective 5 in the 1st. I followed deploying my planes in the middle which still did not give away my intentions of making the push on the left. Then I placed the Ravager which goaded out his Destroyers. I deployed my Trueborn in a venom (V1). After that I deployed Venom 3 and he had little to deploy by then. Only the scarabs I think. So I deployed the Raider 1 and 2 and he put the scarabs onto the objective 4. I deployed the rest. As you can imagine, I was VERY happy at that point. We rolled off and he won, which was fine given his short range. TURN 1 - NECRONS Not much to say. The Necron shuffled forward. NB and Scarabs 1 and 3 advanced. Shooting from Destroyers saw my Ravager damaged. I was out of range for everything else. He captured 4, 2 and 1. Score DE-NECRONS: 0-3 TURN 1 - DARK ELDAR Swing to the left! I sent the majority of my force to the Destroyers flank wanting to kill them and wanting to get outside the NB range as I was betting he will want to stay behind his little Scarab wall. My plan was to sweep from this flank towards the right one. Trueborn unloaded from Venom and climbed the ruins to the Objective 3. Archon disembarked too into the top level of ruins with objective 5. He was well out of sight there. I shot V1 into the two Khymerae, claiming the Betrayers special objective. My shooting saw Destroyers killed, some Warriors killed and some scarabs killed. I captured 5 and 3 too. He scored Defend 4, Defend 2, Defend 1. Score DE-NECRONS: 7:6 TURN 2 - NECRONS The monolith appears. He could not fit it anywhere relevant, so he placed it in his deployment zone to support the flank where I intended to press. He also threw in the Flayed Ones behind my Raiders hoping to kill one with Monolith and pulling off the charge. He indeed managed to kill the Raider with shooting from Monolith and I disembarked my warriors in the back so he cannot charge my Raiders as Flayed ones could actually kill more of them, which I did not want. Scarabs charged a Venom to eat Overwatch, Destroyer Lord failed the charge. Some shooting did some minor damage here and there. Nothing important. A note on the Archon. The unit of Flayed Ones appeared 9'' away from him ofc, but to charge him they'd need to roll like 11'' since he was on upper floor. So if you can, place your DS blockers up! Models distance and charge distance for models on foot is not the same... :-) Kabalites got sweeped on Morale, but killed several Flayed Ones, which was perfect for my next move. I scored Defend 3 and Defend 5. He scored Kill the Big One. Score DE-NECRONS: 9-7 TURN 2 - DARK ELDAR Fun begins. I DSed Scourges, exposed my damaged Ravager on top of the Ruins near my Lanceborn to draw fire from the Monolith away from my Raiders, Scourges and Venoms. I tried to bring down the Monolith before it spawns warriors, But I rolled dismally. So I shot the Scarabs on the Objective 4, Destroyer Lord died, some shooting to Flayed ones to prep them for being taken as Slaves. I had to charge the Raider into the Scarabs on Obj. 4 to finish them off and grab the objective. Numbers of Warriors 2 and 3 were dwindling due to some unlucky Reanimation rolls, but I didnt want to finish them off. Slaves needed! Finally we got to the Fight phase and my Archon jumped off the ruins to cut through the remaining Flayed ones and consolidate further, hoping to catch the lone Scarab that survived the adventure with Venoms. My one unit of Khymerae moved to slow the Nighbringer's and his suite's advance. Amazingly they were killed off on Morale so no Consolidation! :-) Second Khymerae jumped onto the objective goading the Nightbringer. I scored 2VPs for Slaves and Capture 6 and 4. He did not have anything to score. Score DE-NECRONS: 13-7 TURN 3 - NECRONS Obviously his Warriors stepped out of the Monolith, which required slight adjustment in my plans. Rightmost warriors decided to move and shoot off my Khymerae, Nightbringer and his Scarabs did not take the bait, but headed right into my trap. He used his power to reduce the Trueborn to Lancers and 1 dude. His Monolith failed to kill Ravager. Other shooting killed some scourges, few wounds here and there on Venoms. His lone Scarab attempted to charge the lone Scourge, but a lucky Overwatch Blaster killed him (depriving me of the VP for slaves my Archon would get). He scored nothing, I scored Defend 4 Score DE-NECRONS: 14-7 TURN 3 - DARK ELDAR Reap and sweep. My warriors disembark and shoot off the Warriors 3 and soften Warriors 4 so they can free a way to get to Warriors 2 and the Lord. My Venoms and Scourges reposition to shoot the Nightbringer and his suite. Ravager repositions to charge the Nightbringer along with one Venom to prevent him charging anything next turn if he Falls Back. I finally killed the Monolith with Blasters which exploded and damaged stuff around him. My planes started to shoot the Necron Warriors 1. I first used Blasters and lances on the Scarabs to get them out of the way and then activated my special DE ability of +1 to-Wound on poison and shot the Nightbringer with 36 poison shots... scoring... 1... bloody... wound... Remaining blasters did a little more damage, but he was still very much alive. Archon moved up to support the warriors. The lone Scourge moved back to objective 5 to secure me the Seize the Ground Objective next round. In Fight phase the Nightbringer killed the Raider, but failed to kill the Venom that charged him too. My Kabalites killed Warriors 4. Oh by the way the Raider 3 is in wrong position. I used him to swallow Overwatch on Warriors 4 using his thin form to still squeeze in the two squads of warriors. He scored nothing. I scored Kill the Big One and 1 VP for slaves. Score DE-NECRONS: 16-7 TURN 4 - NECRONS His warriors jumped off and shot down a Venom and attempted to charge another, which they failed. Necron Lord stepped back into cover. In retrospect I am not sure why. :-) Nightbringer went to capture objective 6 and used his power to kill 2 of my Scourges nearby. Warriors 1 shot a Venom, but to serious effect. I score nothing, he scores Capture 6. Score DE-NECRONS: 16-8 TURN 4 - DARK ELDAR Not much here beyond the obvious. Shooting sees Nightbringer killed. My warriors soften up Warriors 2 down to 3 models, charge Lord, whom they killed. Kabalites 2 failed the long charge. Archon managed to fail to kill 3 warriors. The diagram is not showing my Trueborn, IDK why, but they were there, securing me the Seize the Ground along with raider on 4, Scourge on 5 and Scourges on 6 who moved just enough to be within 3'' of the objective, but not in CC with Nightbringer ofc. I scored Kill the Clone, Slay the Warlord, Seize the Ground, 1VP for Slaves, Capture 2. We also realized I scored First Blood and Linebreaker and he scored Revenge and 1VP for his racial objective. FINAL SCORE DE-NECRONS: 29-10 which translates to 18-2 in Tourney Points. This guy is real fun to play against, but since he does not have experience with Dark Eldar and their movement and CC capabilities of shooting units, he made a lot of mistakes. His list was also very friendly compared to mine so the result is nothing surprising. I felt actually bad for beating him so high. However it was a great game and actually great example of how enemy's short range and lot of slow models on the board can lose the game especially against us. Oh and did I tell you how I looove our vehicles? :-D Seriously this is the best list I ever fielded. Thanx for reading and next battle will be 1250 points of my Wych Cult against Ultramarines Dreadnought list...
