I have been obsessing over the dark eldar for two months and now I have my first actual Dark eldar kit |not including my 43 bitz mashed wracks| however now that I have my first ravager I cant seam to figure out what Grey's to use to paint my scheme. If anyone can share any tips on what paints to use |GW| I would be really grateful. PS I don't want it to be to dark or to bright.

Nice colour scheme. I would suggest a base coat of Charadon granite and Chaos Black. About 4/1. Pannel with Charadon Granite (maybe skip this stage for vehicles). Highlight with Adeptus Battle Grey. Badab Black wash. You could go further with a Codex Grey highlight if you wanted to. Personally i'm a fan of stark highlights when it comes to DE armour but thats just personal flavour. Hope this helps.

I would base Adeptus, wash badab, and highlight with adeptus and codex, if codex is too bright then go with a 2 parts codex and 1 part adeptus mix, or maybe 50/50. I personally like to avoid mixes, not that I ever do... at this point I have 3 mix colours I use on model, but thats out of like 20 or 30 I think. Anyway thats just my take, I would probably skip the was on vehicles, I find that they usually end up being unnecessary.

I would do the same to get the colors in the picture. I tend to use Shadow Grey mixed with black blended up to Fortress Grey on armor surfaces while I use Adeptus-Codex-Fortress Greys to highlight fabric. I find that Shadow grey is easier on the eye when it comes to highlighting curved armor surfaces. My 2cents.

Thank you all for your imput. I have never used chardanon granate but heard good things. The problem is in the pot it looks almost brown-ish. I am stuck on paints and dont want to invest in a new one before I know if it will work ok. Three possabilitys.
What one would you all say looks best and if 3 whould 5050 be best or maby more grey in the mix?

I think adeptus battlegrey is a little light for the base coat. It looks about the same colour as an unpainted model when it dries (at my FLGS some people like to call it Adeptus Battle-sprue).
I like number 3 the best. I would use a mix of 80/20 adeptus battlegrey for the base of the armour plates. I think the 'undersuit' would look best if left black.

I'm with this 100%. Basing the armor in codex grey would be far too light. I based my old-school Cadians (back in 94'..holy crap) with Codex Grey for an urban camo scheme. It was far too light for my tastes. I think the scheme listed by kizzdougs would most accurately recreate the picture that you posted.

OK then I need to get myself some Charadon granite . Thanks for the help. It will be a little while because I have 30 wracks, 3 haemon, a part time job and a weekly 40k game night to organize but once I get to my ravager and my |hopefully at xmas| trueborn in venoms I will post the results. Once again thanks everyone. Love this forum.

Charadon granite is actually a very dark green*. Straight black shading on grey is ok, but I'd advise using brown or purple. Black with a touch of turquoise in it will work too.
*I actually use it for my orks.

I think ESE was referring to the second colour scheme i suggested! Not the one with Charadon!
This one! A modified version of #3.

More like, ~Base/Undersuit: Chaos Black ~Armour plates: Adeptus battlegrey -Badab Black wash ~Highlight: Codex Grey
If you give the Adeptus a Badab wash it should darken it nicely. I think this would be the simplest scheme, ie. no mixing etc.
Ps. I'm not too sure about the Kroxigor's colours.

I wonder if that isn't too dark. From what I see You could use half of this set for coth/leather, half for armour.
[edit] here are paints from this set.
Appropriate GW paints can be found via colour chart, in Tutorials...

So Thank you for all the help and thanks to the help I have created this; my test model. I started with adeptus battlegrey and I highlighted it with codex grey. The skin is astronimican and the cloth is cathayan; then everything was washed with badab. What dose everyone think?
I am thinking if I give him a cape, a hellglave and a cool base he would make a great Archon model.

So after much headache and internal distress I finally admitted to my self that the First test model was not as great as I though. I did another two tests and the final one lead to the right color for the base coat. The base of the Armour will be codex Grey and the body suit will be black. I just got some fortress Grey for the highlights but I need some more advice.
On the finally test model I tried shading the Armour with badab black but it blotched badly and made the Armour look bad. I also tried shading with watered down battle great but it looks like its not even there. Would it be smart to use chaos black to shade the Armour |heavily watered down| cuss I just want to show the inner edge of the armour?
I did not post a pic of the codex Armour because it was ruined by the badab black But it is the right color to match the pic.
