| So... how are you guys dealing with some of the Tzeentch "buff all things" and smite shenanigans? I've never actually played against them until last night, and I intentionally took a fluffy list (wyches/reavers/hellions) due to miscommunicaiton on the goal of the fight. Anyway... it didn't go so well Those deep striking 18" flamer units are absurd, and he had like 7 characters total all bubblewrapped in cheap horrors (which split...yaaay) so all my hard punch from things like voidravens seem to go wasted. It was a one-off fight for sure, but curious how you guys deal with those scenarios | |

Yes and no. With all the dice shenanigans tzeentch can do with roll modifiers, he still gets off quite a few. The other big issue was the bubblewrap of cheap screens. I just wasn't geared to deal with his deepstrike horde of 18" range flamer units and the 60 shots it pumped out from the other unit, along with the bubblewrapped characters in his deployment zone. Had I run a shotty list, it would have been waaaaay easier to scoot n' shoot and just drown all his high invuln mobs in saves I think. I just really wanted to see what the wyches would do (and to their credit, they did OK - the reavers got mashed by his demon prince since I misheard one of his rules - no biggie). If they get buffed in the codex, I will be a happy man

| With the removal of flamers being able to toast our passengers in vehicles, gunboats, specifically venoms seem to be a good choice. The most important thing to note though, is the shorter range of smites to many of our weapons. Venoms aren't as cheap as they used to be, so they shouldn't be used as speed bumps for the enemy army, I might suggest instead, pockets of 5 warriors (35 points is hella cheap) to fill in the gaps around your army and use that 9" deepstrike bubble to your advantage so that the flamers can't drop near important units.
Yes It'll mean you have to start the first turn or two plinking away at his army, but at the same time, you're building up your Power from Pain.

| Haemoncului are great against them, CoM.
I have a friend that only plays Tzeentch. Those guys normally do like 10 MW each, spread out throughout his army (he also plays with LOTS of HQ's, like 6 90-150pt hq's) Horrors and some other units are so cheap he can spam powerful Psyche HQ's and still have a horde.
My goal normally if to put my 2 Haemoncului in really good spots, but the rest of my army go away from his slow moving units and pull out his fast moving ones, try to split him in 1/2 and kill what i can.

| I played against tzeench daemons for the first time also last friday and i played a game of keep away until he brought a 20 man horror unit in, then used my venoms to speedily get there and poison it to death. I also had a 20 man kabalite squad with two cannons come on and dakka that squad. I killed 17 and morale killed the rest. My mandrakes ran in to a wall of daemons coming back due a roll of 1 on morale and it took my wyches to to come on and break through.
I couldn't stop his greater daemon of tzeench, a 3+ invul is hard to get through with lances (and my horrible lance luck). Pure poision may be the way to go but also play keep away from smite range of his characters...Haemonculus sounds like an awesome idea.
and yes, beware the flamer daemons, they ate two venoms for breakfast. And as they are pistols that auto hit, staying in combat with them is...well, you are gonna have a bad time. i ran away xD

Flamers (the unit) are 12" range. Did you mean exalted flamers (single model character), or horrors (the ones that split) both of which have a 18" shooting attack?
