| i was playng a game today with my DE right...then my friend rought up a really interesting rule... but idk if hes telling the truth. but.
are you only allowed to fire out of firing points when u move at combat speed???
cause we were playing then he brought it up....which really ruined my day, cause i was about to shoot with my TB with SC and Scarbines then he said that....sooo i lost about my 33ish shots and dropped to 12 only from the vehicle....

| Since I don't clearly understand what you meant ( quite confusing way of writing)
If you he meant that he denied your shooting after moving at 6" aka combat speed then:
for starters the infantry inside the transport can always shoot if their ride moves at combat speed, only thing that changes is that they count as moving (so no heavy weapons, rapid fire only at 12", etc.);
secondly open-topped vehicles should be treated as having unlimited firing points so I don't see where his logic stems from
But if you moved more than 6" then what he said was true, you cannot shoot unless you leave your cozy venom/raider

When a vehicle moves faster than combat speed, then passangers aren't allowed to shoot from the firepoints. They can however dissembark and shoot, if the vehicle didn't go flat out.

| @Tiri - I think he's saying he was restricted to only shooting from firing points at 'combat speed'
@gunner boy.
Units in a vehicle can only shoot out of firing points, even if the vehicle doesn't move. If a vehicle is open topped then the entire model counts as firing points and every model inside can shoot. So, DE in a Raider/Venom that moves 6" are allowed to fire all their weapons as if they moved that turn (so no Dark Lances, rifles fire at rapid fire only, ect.)
Make sense? | |

| Ok, got a little bit confused there. Read it as: he said, that you are only allowed to shoot out of fire points, when the vehicle moved at combat speed or less. If it was meant, that passangers of a vehicle, that moved at combat speed may only shoot out of fire points, then that's halway true. For a passanger to shoot out of a vehicle you always need a fire point, moved or not, but open topped vehicles, like our's, have a special rule, that allows them to count the whole vehicle as a fire point, as Thor said. - BRB p.70 wrote:

Instead, all passengers in an open-topped vehicle may fire, measuring range and line of sight from the hull of the vehicle.

| Ok first off! now that i re-read that post! IM ACTUALLY SORRY THAT I WORDED THAT REALLY REALLY BAD! @tiri rana - You are right on target with your first comment! that is what i was wondering. cause if it is that...then, ok, its nice to know that now. Now i have to write up a new list that runs better than 4TB w. 2 SC and 2ShC but thank you for clearing that up. @mortis_infernale & Thor665 - Thank you for commenting! but again im sorry that i worded that pretty crap. but also! thank you for also telling me a rule that i didnt know. that when a vehicle moves combat speed, passengers shoot like they moved. thanks | |

| We just had similar debate in our local gaming club...
So which one is true; *Units in an open-topped fast skimmer transport (i.e. Venom or Raider) may ONLY shoot while their transport moves up to 6" (Combat Speed)
OR
*Units in an open-topped fast skimmer transport (i.e. Venom or Raider) may shoot even their transport moves up to 12" (Cruising Speed)
If first one is true there is always an 'option' to 'disembark&shoot' even unit's transport moves at cruising speed...

| @ Oqlanth - anything over 6" counts as cruising speed so the first comment is correct it works as follows 1-6" combat speed, over 6 up to 12" cruising speed, over 12" up to 24" Flatout.
and yes if you move 12" you can disembark then shhot but as already said you count as moving etc
