| So I am going through my collection and notice i badly need to rekit my scourges. I have 3 units of 5 and I haven't updated them since they could only have 2 weapon options. I know blasters are amazing but I just don't have enough of them ( #neverenoughblasters). So now I am looking to other options. I've got a bunch of shredders, a few blasters, and several of the other options. Is using a mix of blasters and shredders a legit option? Should I make each unit a specialty unit? And are heat lances really that bad? thanks | |

| When I bought my scourge in 7th, I cutted the front "teeth" of the shredder to convert them to blaster. Nobody ever noticed. | |

I did the same thing. I simply cut off the barrel of the gun and replaced it with the blast pistol barrels due to them being in every kit and not at all worth it in 5e. In most non-Imperial armies, people do not really know (and don't care) about which is which special weapon, so long that they can tell them apart from the regular guys.

| Great idea. But what about going with actual shredders? Seems like four shedders would be pretty scary for an MEQ, or even a TEQ, unit with massed fire at -1 AP. No? | |

| Shredders actually seem great for taking out groups of guards, which most of your other weapons are not. Wyches will chew through guard quick, but outside if them you have poison weapons which are terrible against guard, and dissis which just don't have the volume of shots for their points.
Maybe I'm wrong, but having something which can chew through the massive screen guards can put up cheap seems like a good idea. Especially as an army that actually has something to fear from the volume of lasgun shots they will pour on you.

Can confirm. had a game against guard where my 5 scourge with 4 shredders dropped down and wiped 10 guardsmen. They reliably kill 8, the carbine kills one, and the last dies to morale. The ability to just delete a unit is very powerful.
