Spirit Hosts as Mandrakes

I've seen a couple of people say that they use Spirit Hosts as Mandrakes.

Can I ask how you mount them to the bases?

One out of every three has an attachment piece, but using that makes them insanely tall. Do you cut off some or all of their tails/trails?

(If anyone has pictures of their conversions, I'd love to see them.)
