Okey! I'm back from the tournament where I ended on 14th out of 77 players. Not bad for a first large 40k tournament (we have allot of tournament at my club but we are usally between 12-16)! Most regular tournament players said the lists at the event where extremely competitive which feels good I did so well!
First game vs Chaos soup
Chaos Lord and Sorcorer with jump pack, some named character, cultists, plagueburst crawlers and Obliterators. I found the game pretty hard and not having a psyker of some sort hurts... Weird enough the game ended on a draw!
Second game vs Imperial soup
Lot's of Imperial guards with basilisks and manticores, ogryns, Blood angel Captains with jump packs and Thunder hammers and assassins. Resulted in a win!
Third game vs Imperial soup
This time it was a mix of Imperial guard, cult mechanicus and forgeworld stuff I've never even seen before like Some kind of drill. Resulted in my biggest win!
Fourth game vs Chaos soup
90+ Plaguebearers, nurgle support and 6 Daemonprinces. This was my first and only loss... Not having magic and him congalining objectives gave him more points even if by turn 6 he barely had anything left... I was not happy with how my list worked here and not happy with how that when I noticed his strategy it was to late...
Fifth game vs Imperial guard
pure imperial guard with like 60 guards, 6 basilisks, 3 leman russ, ogryns and allot of buffs from commanders. The game resultet in a win.
Conclusion: So I got 3wins, 1 loss and 1 draw. For secondary objectives I started taking the "board control" ones and old school but as I played more games I noticed that both old school and behind enemy lines where hard to get. I had much more success with pure slaughter secondarys like kingslayer, big game hunter, reaper and marked for death.
Being lucky enough to not encounter knight army and still having so much trouble vs psyker heavy armies I think I will have to go for some ealdari soup. The Razorwing jetfighters didn't really do much except for dying and the kabalite warriors didn't do much either. The Ravagers and the warlord where awesome though! And the whole Houmonculus battalian did all the heavy lifting. Even the wracks gave me so much points for holding objectives and never dying when my opponents either tried to shoot them off the table or kill them in close combat. For what they did during my games they are so cheap!
I think I will change my Kabalites into "the standard spearhead" and make some adjustments on my kotterie and ally in some Farseers with rangers and maybe something more fun.
The Grotesques where by far the MVP! They where so awesome and even though they where the most targetted unit when they came running forward they never got taken out any game. Simple amazing unit!
