| I've signed up for a doubles tournament. 900pts per person, one Detachment, shared CPs. Plenty of time to work out what I'm actually taking. Funny feeling partner is considering Death Guard (yes, its allowed).
The terrible idea - Beastmasters. And Beasts. And nothing but (in my half).
Can it work? Is it awful? Discuss. | |

| If you do it, go Hamei with whip and diabolical soothsayer for the +D3 CP's (you dont need a cult as you wont benefit, so why not?) 2 beastmasters 3x 12 flocks 2x 12 dogs 1x 8 dogs
900 points.
That is if the rule of 3 is in effect, if not, go all birds. Would be a fun list, and only viable due to the support of your partner. | |

| You are limited to nine squads, requiring an HQ for every 3. (p. 114 of codex)
Id go with wych cults for at least two of the squads, BM isn't awful in combat and hes gonna wanna be near his beastys.
flocks are crazy good still, they just soak up so much fire. Khymera are OK, CF are bad grots, but their D2 isnt bad for light tanks i hear.
So id just tell him not to bother with pox walkers, bring all the guns while you handle screens and melee.

| Hmm. So stupid numbers of flocks you say? I suppsoe each beastmaster basically allows unlimited Beast units not counting towards slots.... So 900pts, would give me a Vangaurd: HQ: Haemonculus (70) ELITES: Beastmaster (36) Beastmaster (36) Beastmaster (36) FAST/NONE 6x Razorwings (42) 6x Razorwings (42) 6x Razorwings (42) 6x Razorwings (42) 6x Razorwings (42) 6x Razorwings (42) 6x Razorwings (42) 6x Razorwings (42) 3x Razorwings (42) (can be adjusted into other sized units of course. This gives me 51 individual models to work with.) Could this actually be a viable wound-soaking monstrosity?! And how do you think people would feel if I used something like THESE to represent those flocks? And what if I tried to make them look like they're on fire? | |

| I think you misunderstood me. The matches play rule limits you to 3 packs per detachment, requiring at least one beast master each detachment.
Also is the scourge a weapon still? I thought he had to take a agoniser now

| Oh yeah, so you have to factor that in too.
So you could run triple patrol, 2 cult, 1 coven
3 hqs - 240ish 3 bm- 120ish 3 troops - 150ish 490 points of beasts left
Or 1 cult 1 coven both as outrider, although i don’t know if you elect to have a free detachment fill instead | |

| I forgot about the damn rule of 3. Nuts. But Beast Spam is still doable in one detachment, as they don't use slots if you Beastmasters, right?
Now.....what to build a load of Razorwing Flocks from......
