2k venom spam list - is this a viable list for ITC?

Long time lurker, first time poster. I’m due to step up into the 2k arena in the tournament scene in the near future having played only 1250 and 1500 “competitively/at tournaments in 8th. Bearing this in mind I’m not really sure how to up scale to 2000 and I want to know whether the following list is a viable choice for a 2k ITC tournament.

In terms of secondaries butchers and headhunter are the only “killy” secondaries an opponent can max out, and with 12 venoms I feel I could grab recon and hold more to cancel out kill more in the early turns. But am I too invested in fragile units to have the staying power to reach the end game?

I’m a veteran of 5th/6th edition and mass blasterborn in venoms where I lived for the glass cannon, but in a tournament environment where kill more is a thing will my prior experience and list work against me?

It is viable, but just note you will not be killing any heavy vehicles. You will have to ignore kill vehicle/knights for some games, thats not a bad thing, just you need to know this, you can get recon, BEL, etc.. but Kill more you will lose A LOT, b.c you are going to lose Kill more you need to make sure you get the bonus and hold more, this will be a problem if a knight gets on 1 bonus (sometimes they are hold 4 out of 5 something crazy like that).

I would drop a venom and kabal unit for more blasters, or something to help with 1 heavy vehicle.

In my experience that is pure venom lists like this needs 10+ blasters.

I have seen someone win full tournaments with 15 venoms and 15 blasters

I would remove Yvraine to be honest. You don’t have any close combat unit she can walk the board with and if you keep her in a vehicle then she cannot cast. If you replace her with the Visarch or Drazhar at least you will save some points.

Dunno if I'd agree with this. I've got a soft spot for her but she's only 12 points more than Drazhar or the Visarch and she'll put in a lot more work than either of them.

I would keep her, its a MW caster and anti spell HQ, also she isnt bad in melee.

I would normally agree, but how is she getting into 18 range in this list? If she walks the board alone she dies, if she is on a vehicle it means she cannot cast before turn 2/3, is she just stays back she is wasted.

12 points are not much, but they can be used to buy a lhamean (assuming he can find 3 somewhere else) and save blaster Archons from the explosion of their vehicle, or to buy some PGL... which I personally find very useful.

I think you need Talos, grotesques or some other though unit walking the board to do a good use of Yvraine.

Also, she gives point for pick your poison.

I normally don't have much difficulty keeping a Venom or two between my foot slogging HQs and enemy guns, and I don't run anywhere close to twelve Venoms. Outside of snipers she should mostly be fine.

With 15 units to character protect her, and its not that hard to get in range honestly. I play lots of characters for ITC and never had troubles getting them to places.

But all of that is true for Drazhar and the Visarch as well, except even moreso because they need to be within one inch of an enemy to be useful.

100% this, remember he has 2 battaliosn he needs 4 Archons, so there are only 3 options, Visarch, Yvraine, and Drazhar.

Out of all of them Yvarine is by far the best option, b.c she is actually very useful.

Firstly can I just say thank you for all the replies they have been really useful to read through. As you’ve already covered by running a double battalion I need to take one of the names characters and because of the MW potential Yvraine made the most sense to me. I have changed things up a bit with my list to try and get a bit more anti vehicle in as I’m likely to face a number of knights across 5 matchups, and I am considering maybe going a bit more “standard” with maybe a coven detachment.
