| Comparing costs of a 1 ravager 140 points for 20 extra points, you have 2 raiders with Darktechomancers. 9 shots of dissintegrator of damage 2 against 6 of damage 3s with +1 to wound and damage and duplicate the number of wounds in two units. I play darktechnomancers is other type of gameplay. I found more similar to a spam venom. And wear the talos in squares of 2 or 1 just because they are more "vulnerable" in first line ,venoms in flanks and raiders-ravagers behind. | |

| This week I played a game vs. Deathwatch, using a dark technomancers/experimental creations battalion and a test of skill/berserk fugue spearhead (3 units of bikes, 1 razorwing, 1 void raven).
dark techomancers on talos shooting performed excellently. In round one, even after advancing them to get within range (and thus, hitting on 5s), my 3 talos still put at least 8 wounds on a leman russ (which got finished off by one of the planes). Admittedly, my rolls were pretty good, and I only took 1 MW in return.
liquifier guns that wound on 4+ and do 2D are pretty good at killing marines. Might actually be worth the 11pt price tag. However, I only put one in a wrack unit mounted in a raider, with a haemonculus (also armed with a liquifier gun). My other wracks are min-sized objective holder units. I'm tempted to give them hexrifles, however.
The bikes have performed well enough so far (it was my 2nd game using test of skill on reavers) that I'll continue testing this list. I just have to make sure to remember to use berserk fugue, as I would occasionally forget, due to the relative unfamiliarity with playing lists like this.

| New hotness is 9 DT talos, 3+/5+ to do MW's to vehicles and 2D for the basic damage is just insane right now. Kills marines way fast, shoot up a bunch of wyches turn 1 to make sure talos don't get shot turn 1. | |

| I'm going to try 20 Cursed Blade Hellions into a...Bastion.
Yep. There's some tactics on paper, I have to try them. Maybe next week.

| Been playing kind of a silly Ynnari triumvirate/ Drazhar with custom coven list.
My goodness, the combination of Drazhar's aura with Ynnari Incubi is just nutso. Strike first, hitting on a 2+ (re-roll with Visarch), +1 to wound (re-roll for Ynnari shenanigans), damage 3 on 6s to wound.
The list isn't competitive, but a squad of Ynarri Incubi and Drazhar in a different detachment isn't too much of an investment. Pretty damn choppy.

| So I tried 20 Hellions, but they weren't good. The bastion was nice, the strategy works, but the Hellions themselves simply are worse Reavers. They need something to makes them different, or they should cost 9 points.

| Yeah, hellions has the "to many rules, not enough stats for the points" problem. | |

| It seems like two units of scourges (probably with lances - all other options are either too short-ranged or don't pack enough punch) would be good for putting inside a bastion.
On the CW side of things, I'd be inclined to pack two units of dark reapers in a bastion.

| Can only put 1 unit (other than characters) in almost all fortifications. | |

| You can put max 2 units in an Imperial Bastion. Anyway the strategy was giving protection to any unit that will die if you don't go first. As the Hellions. It works better in armies that can make you move twice (think about 20 PA RedCoursairs/15 Raptors that will disembark+move(advance?)twice+charge, or just 20 Kraken Genestealers...) but i tought 20 Hellions should have been good. The idea works, but the unit itself don't...Hellions are not good enough for their points. Or, well, they "are", but there are Reavers that are simply better in everything. If only Hellions would have something like Ap-2/-3...some hyper fragile heavy lifters (thinking about Fanatics for MidnighGoblin..or Gloomspite as they're called now). Then they would be different from Reavers. Hellions for kamikaze impact, Reavers for ground control. But like now, nothing differences them.enough. Hellions are just worse Reavers | |

Test of Skill Reavers are Heaven sent with this latest point drop. Poison wounding on 5+, 4+ to wound with Bladevanes up to T7, Blasters wounding on 2+ up to T7. Just excellent. ToS brings Hellions close to being anti-flyer if you give them the +1A Combat Drug. I just wish we had something between Splinter Pistol and Blast Pistol to give Wyches. ToS is great. I was really hoping to not have to take mandatory Blast Pistols anymore. But, the gap is still just big.
