Behold, fools! It is I, Nebulus, lurking for years from the shadows only to emerge Now with Tales from Real Space.
Below your tortured eyes will discover a listing of the pitfalls and successions - er - successes - of the Kabal of the Black Heart!
First, the army lists!
Secondly, takeaways and thoughts... for the next encounter.
Lastly, to be editted and added, a more complete battle report, phase by phase.
Mwahahaha...
These lists were generated with Battlescribe... more to come on that tool soon...
Combat Patrol - Eternal War - Outriders
The Target:
Tyranids - Hive Fleet Leviathon
Hive Tyrant - Adrenal Glands, Monstrous Rending Claws, Monstrous Scything Talons, Prehensile Pincer Tail, Resonance Barb, Wings, Warlord
Power - Catalyst, Smite, The Horror
Troop - 30 Hormagaunts, Scything Talons
Troop - 12 Termagants, Flesh Borer
Troop - 12 Termagants, Flesh Borer
The Operatives:
Obsession - Kabal of the Black Heart

HQ - Drazhar
Troop - 6 Kabalite Warriors, Sybarite, Blaster, 5 Splinter Rifles*
Troop - 6 Kabailite Wrriors, Sybarite, Blaster, 5 Splinter Rifles
Raider - Shock Prow, * Units (Archon, Troop)
Raider - Non-* Units (Drazhar, Troop)
And now, poor reader, the report in and of itself...
The Table - Outriders, with a sight-blocking building placed in the middle of the board, with two pieces of 3" terrain in each quadrant.
Primary Objective - Take and Hold.
Secondaries - Outrider Secondary (Both) Herd the Prey (Drukhari) [Slay the Warlord] (Tyranid)
Takeaways –
What worked -
Scaring the enemy with a rapid objective grab, making that opponent break synapse.
The Archon's Shadowfield.
The Phantasm grenade launcher.
The Raider taking a whole swarm of Hormagaunts.
What could have worked better...
Drazhar was not made to take on massive opponents alone... The Archon, however, faced the beast (albeit a wounded rendition) and stood his own.
The Raiders were incrediblly resilient against mall arms fire and attacks!
Leadership and Combat attrition are fascinating, and the Dark Eldar make much use of an opponent's low leadership.
Falling back is evil when objectives are nearby (or when you are Archons who Fight First), making Cruel Deception truly pivotal.
For Outriders – objectives in quadrants outside your deployment zone are far more valuable than those in them if you pick the secondary.
What shouldn't have worked...
That said, the Archon cannot take a phantasm grenade launcher (this was a mistake in the
Battelscribe system which I did not account for)... but this tool is very useful against tyranids.
Thoughts to Try…
- Archon/Drazhar hunting duo.
- Smaller units of Kabalites with Master Archon
- Sitting in the back and pot-shotting with dark lances for longer.
