| I want to paint some squad markings on my squads because I think it might look good, and will also help reduce confusion of drug effects, units getting close to each other, etc.
However I am not a great freehander, and I'm struggling to think of ideas of how to pull this off.
Any ideas?
Thanks Notts | |

| hair color might work if you want the uniforms to remain unchanged, also the use of different metallics for the blades (cc weapon) or washes over the metallics.
i keep my wyches and blood brides apart by not having wyches use weighted flails (the guillotine on a chain) also the wych suit is black where the blood bride is purple.

| Colorful edges of bases. Or edges with some sort of unique patterns.
Also You can make different bases for whole unit, like all members stand on some sort of stone/mud/water/deck of ship/whatever.

| I simply go for different colour schemes entirely, to both make my squads distinct from eachother as well as presenting them being various bands of raiders.
My Kabalites are black with blue highlights and parts of bronze in their armour, the higher ranking a Kabalite, the more I use bronze. Trueborn colouring depend on their gear entirely. Shardcarbine Trueborn will share the same colour scheme as Kabalites do, but with distinctly bronze chestplates and I'm thinking differently coloured helmets as well.
My Wyches are sporting black bodysuits, with only their armoured side being blood red.
Now, my Blasterborn are instead black/grey/dheneb stone, with some accents of red and red-to-yellow transitioning hands. This way, they look more single-minded on destruction than others, and their intent of blasting everything apart with Darklight is quite visible.

| For my warriors I have painted their loincloths a different colour for each squad. For wyches, I don't know, I only have one squad so no confusion there. | |

| A local player here put small blobs of GS to fill in the centre of his wyches' backs and smoothed them down so that they looked kinda like those bladder-style drink backpacks that runners use. He then painted those different colours for each squad.
Looked good and very effective.

| You could always draw them on with a detail pen. If you feel confident you can try to paint over the drawn-on marking. This is what I do for hull runes on my Raiders. A .05mm detail pen would work on infantry. | |

| I haven't done any squad markings on my models, but my Trueborn have their helmets done in silver with gold details (some of my Warriors have some areas, usually shoulderpads, done in silver to make them a bit less uniform, but none except the Trueborn have silver helmets). I also have enough masked Wytched (and one Hekatrix with a mask) to make one sqad of Wytches with masks and another without. I usually just mix the masked and unmasked one together, though. | |

| I like making the details small but noticeable. Usually colour coding. But I prefer things like gems, or sashes to make it discreet. | |

| You could cut out a pattern/stencil using paper or masking tape and paint it on that way.
OP, you said you wanted to "reduce the confusion of drug effects"...what do you mean by that, coz you know the drug rolls are only once for the whole army, not 2 roll per eligible squad.....
