| Does anyone use the Tantalus, Reaper, or Raven Fighter? All of them are 40k (instead of Apoc) so are usable in normal games, and also tournament legal. A 12/12/10 transport with 16 model capacity is tre-nice, as is the storm vortex cannon on the reapers. and the S7 2d6 armor pen for the scythevanes could really make some people groan, esp since you can fit 5 of them in a list (3 heavies, 2hq). The vortex cannon would be pretty nasty against squads of mech since you get d3 haywire rolls, as well as a chance to punch.
thoughts?

| I've unfortunately not had a chance to test out my Tantalus as of yet. Shame on me, I know. I will however endeavour to keep you up to date on it's progress when I get the chance to do so. | |

| Reaper - ok, our variant of fire prism. Proxied it couple of times, rocked against IG.
Tantalus - didnt used nor own, people claim its mediocre, but im sill gonna buy one, have a dream of full atack in movement phase army, lots of chain snares , reavers etc... 5 of them is not a good idea. Thats just like 5 open-toped Chimeras with a cost of a Land Raider.
Razor Fighter? I know only Raven fighter, which is Apoc only and is good enough AA hunter with some moderate AI. If you mean Razorwing, well its good and loved by almost all who use it.

| Sorry, yes, I meant the raven fighter. Edited my original post to reflect. | |

| Yupr , reaper is poor-mans fire prism, great model but suffers from one-gun syndrome, you are honestly better off with a Ravagar, I have one , the model is lovely and its kinda fun to play with , just don't expect much and it'll be ok.
the Tantalus is terrible ,I own one I have used it for a series of games, there has not been one game where it has been able to pull it's weight , it just dies , and is almost completely useless Vs mech , it only does one str 7 2d6 hit on a flyover, you still ahve to roll a five or more after that assuming you pene, tbh the opportunity to flyover a vehicle is situational as well as often leaving you very exposed to retaliation.
it's not a 'for fun' unit because it is a crippling handicap.
200 points to do one weak psudo melta attack a turn is not good by anyones standards.
You will be lucky to keep it on the table for more than a turn, its a 200 point open topped chimera.
The guns are good on paper but in practice do very little.
I think it is completely and utterly worthless sure the carrying capacity is nice but you are just putting even more points in one overpriced fragile exploding basket that no 5th edition army is going to struggle to sink.
Of the two the Reaper is more playable but it's not worth 30? more points than a Ravager, its prob not worth much more at all
FW coulr really do with going back to the drawing board with the Tantalus | |

| Raven isn't apoch only anymore, since it got new rules in the new IA:Apocalypse book. It can be used as a flyer in apoch or as a skimmer in regular games. It's ok, I quess, with a twinlinked lance and 30-shot splinter cannon, but I wish it was FA instead of HS. Reaper is against most targets worse than a Ravager (the gun is a little better than Ravager's 3 lances, but the Ravager gets 3 shots a turn so it's more likely to do something, and can function after weapon destroyed). Tantalus looks cool but is not very good in game. I got one because it makes a nice centerpiece model. | |
