Lords and Ladies of Commorragh, my Dark Brothers and Sisters, I welcome thee!
I am truly happy that I've stumbled upon this wonderful forum, dedicated to Dark Eldar and Dark Eldar only! I'm a 29-year old guy living in Hungary and started playing 40k a bit more than one year ago. First I went for Tyranids because I really liked the world-consuming swarm feeling (and played Zerg in Starcraft
but soon became disappointed with the unreleased models, the horrible balance issues and the fact that Nids have scaling issues under 1500 points. (My local gaming group consisting of 4 people started the game with small armies when I started and we are building up the point levels slowly). Against these facts, I really love my Nids, play them a lot - and paint them a lot, dang, so many models
I felt the need for some change occasionally, where I can use a bit mode tactics, a bit more elite feeling - so, I came upon the Eldar. Since they require a completely different approach then the Nids, I really became fond of the diversity they provide. And painting Eldar, I realised that sometimes I enjoy collecting, painting and assembling models much more than actually playing them. And Eldar have many possibilities to be nicely painted and let me learn new techniques.
Then the new Dark Eldar codex arrived. I read it and fell instantly in love with it. I always considered myself "the good guy in life who always plays the bad guys in every game" so I was really touched by the dark world of Commorragh, the look and feel of the miniatures, the well written fluff behind the army, and the endless possibilities that the codex showed me. It requires finesse, it requires skills, and is a real hard lea rning curve for becoming better and better because of the fragile units it has. But it also makes it possible to unleash my darker side on the table top, and occasionally, play a little evil. And that really seemed awesome
But, I thought that it would really be hard to justify a third army with the previous two still being build, and there are a lot of unreleased models, so no, I will just wait, and we shall see. Then, the Cronos/Talos and the Scourges arrived... and from that moment, there was no turning back. I tried to resist the temptation of the Dark Side, my unpainted models on the desk were telling me "do not leave us!", but with the release of the Battleforce, the temptation became even stronger, so I just surrendered and ordered my first 1000 pts of Dark Eldar army a few days ago.
I really love this codex, the whole world in it; I guess it's the most fluffy and most multidimensional codex currently available. The models are just simply awesome, DE has the best model range available today, so I know that I will spend many happy hours of painting, modeling and playing with them.
I plan to post a worklog on the building of my army, as it makes progress, as well as Army lists, Battle reports and some mathhammer speculations, backed up with proof-of-concepts from actual tabletop experience.
I do not consider myself a pro neither on the tabletop nor in painting and modeling, but an enthusiastic amateur who always seeks new challenges and loves the universe of 40k.
That's about me for now, it was a bit long, I hope you don't mind!
Returning to the Shadows, with respect,
