| First 10 wyches finished! Here they go: I still cannot decide whether or not I like them like this... Anyway, returning to former stages means bad luck... Bought 3 reavers today, I hope they will offer more clarity painted in the same fashion. | |

| 'Hornets' may be becoming 'scorpions', or whatever, but in any case, I think the name matters little...
Thanks! | |

The concept is good, but that color theme is just...iduno...wrong?
Personally, I think it is a nice change to see something other than the standard black with *insert colour here* highlights.
Good work with your Void Hornets this far. Perhaps... I have my doubts too. In any case, you gotta pick your poison...
And you DO have white or light blue Dark Eldar armies out there!
This guy did the coolest DE army I could ever envision (let alone reach...): http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/378881.page ... in light blue

| Nice Wyches. The posing is cool and personally I love the red.
Have you thought of some fluff as to why they could be named Hornets so the name does not have to be changed, because I quite like it regardless of colour. Seeing as the word 'Vespid' in Vespid Stingwing comes from the word 'Vespidae', the family name for Wasps and Hornets, and they are a blue/green colour, I don't think that the name needs changing just on a colour basis.
Also, just to back up my point that yellow/red hornets are cool: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vespa_orientalis
That light blue army is magnificent. It works in a really weird way. I think the fact that it is more pastel blue that a bright blue makes it grittier somehow.

| Ditto, no point in changing the name just to match the colour scheme, the name's cool, so is the colour scheme. | |

Forgive me the enthousiasm, but this is by far the coolest model I have ever painted (I must admit to be a speed freak, and after my Kislev horse archers and goblin wolf cavalry, my Imperial Guard is found somewhat wanting in this department...)

- dairy Inadvertantly, Enfernux has made a good point. I do not think that anybdy has done bright yellow Reavers, so they shall be Legendary! Anyway, weirdness over... your entusiasm is forgiven. I have no Reavers as of yet and I can't wait to purchase some. If you get some Scourges I am certain that you shall be excited. They are fun to model and great to paint. Are the Reavers easy to put together, or are they fiddly and fragile?

| You gotta forgive me the red flames on the model right and left :-)
Ah and yes, the reavers are easy to put together BUT fragile as hell... Dropped one, minus one tail fin.
This must be the first army I ever laid my hands on which actually manages to capture the low toughness and armour save in physical sturdiness... Haven't even moved or played the army yet, but I already count about 4 points of damage...
EDIT: ah, and nope, it is not unique - see http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/331285.page

My Raider appears to be trying to get a pain token from me as it keeps stabbing me with all the sharp pointy bits.

Well I like it - let's each just concentrate on our own taste of aesthetics / depravity, shall we? Seconded! That yellow is seriously awesome, and I imagine an entire swarm of them would look scary as hell on tabletop. How many Reavers are you planning to have? Once I dropped my metal Archon on my foot and his huskblade drew blood. I'm amazed that I am resistant to that arcane weapon's powers. It hurt. A lot.

| @Enfernux: It is just about the same, with a very light white drybrush on top, just bad lighting... It was day when I took the first picture, evening the second.
@Cavash: in my book - about as many reavers as I can handle, since I just love the model. Sadly, I am building a 1000 point army and only have space for 5... I don't dare to dream of more at this point.
You know what, I think the Dark Eldar have made a tactical mistake on those Reavers. It is saddening that you can only take one blaster or heatlance for every three Reavers. If they fought for victory instead of sports, I would gather: make them pure tank hunters, bladevane-turbo-strike over the enemy infantry, zipping behind armour, hitting rear armour and/or forcing their tanks to redeploy... I would immediately take heatlances on all of them if I could. If not for the destructive effect, I would do it for the psychological impact. 3 splinter rifles don't scare me... So even if the models are cool, I don't gather them to be game winners.

| The reaver looks awesome, I love the models too, got nine of them tucked away waiting to be based up, enjoy yourself painting them but I'll give you a hint, don't try to do too many layers of highlights, I did three on mine - took forever! | |

| I just reformed my army list...
HQ
- archoness with 2 venom blades, combat drugs and shadow field, in a venom with 2 splinter cannons and a flickerfield, 175 points
TROOPS
- 9 wyches with haywire grenades, plus a hekatrix with agonizer, in a raider with dark lance and flickerfield, 220 points - 9 wyches with haywire grenades, plus a hekatrix with agonizer, in a raider with dark lance and flickerfield, 220 points
FAST ATTACK
- 2 standard reavers plus a reaver with a heatlance, 78 points - 2 standard reavers plus a reaver with a heatlance, 78 points
HEAVY SUPPORT
- ravager with 3 dark lances and a flickerfield, 115 points - ravager with 3 dark lances and a flickerfield, 115 points
TOTAL
1001 points
Now, how to rationalize? I used to run a succubus, at it is the most correct for a wych cult. But I lacked the points to add tank busting capacity to the reavers, which I wanted. So, I searched for points, coming to the succubus which I did not really need. So I dumped by bloodbrides and I just paid for an archoness with 10 points for 2 venom blades. I REALLY like the shadowfield, as it just zips my leader out of existence, so there go the extra 30 points... The last 10 points, needed also to take the Venom, are spend on a 'Lhamaean priestess', for 10 points.
I sure hope this is doable...

| why did you go for two venom blades? you still get the benefits on the extra attack even if you just take a normal close combat weapon, you could take a blast pistol and still get +1 attack wounding on 2+ in close combat but you also get a chance to do some damage in the shooting phase if need be | |
