My local club is doing a 4v4, good vs evil Apoc game. Each player brings 2000 points and we duke it out.

Having never done Apoc before I have no idea what I should really expect to see, nor what I should bring. Due to the good vs evil nature, it's going to be largely Marine (At least two) vs DE, Chaos and some other.

I genuinely don't know where to begin, beyond just being tempted to bring 2000 points worth of Ravagers.

2,000 worth of Ravagers is hardly a bad place to start.

Eh, really Apoc is generally considered more fun minded so there's some questionable 'strategy' aspects to it to begin with as the usual goal is just to have fun and blow stuff up.

I will tend to suggest that Flank March is generally considered the most powerful Stratagem.

We have a Titan Hunter Ravager formation that is quite good and affordable if the enemy are likely to bring any super-heavy vehicles.

Further tactics tend to depend on what you have and what you expect to see facing you. I would generally suggest prepping to face lots of vehicles though - that's pretty common.

DE have a tactical ability called webway assault where you get to deepstrike 3 webway portals, that units can enter play from, and move in and out of (can move from one webway portal to another) that I think would be a bit better than flank-march. I would take 2 or 3 titan hunter squads, and theres the splinter raid force where you get to deepstrike in a bunch of kabalite warriors in raiders, and RJBs.

If you wanted to go another route and have the money and models, theres also the karnival of pain where you get to take urien, and a bunch of grots and wracks and give them combat drugs, each grot or wrack squad within 12" of urien at the beginning of the turn gets a second combat drug... XD

Karnival of Pain + dual webway assaults would be full of win... toss a haemun in with each squad and they all start off with FNP and FC, and Uriens master of pain ability could give D3 grot squads fearless as well... looking at a rather scary force... combine that with the fact that they could move from portal to portal (and 6 portals on the board)...

then a few titan hunter squads, just in case there are any super-heavies... XD

The model issue also comes into play. Whilst I have well over 4k points in models, most of that is in Warriors and Wyches (3rd Ed Player). Whilst I have enough gunships, I don't have nearly enough Grots to make a go of Coven's lists that I wish I could.

step 1: Bring vehicles
step 2: Bring AT weapons
step 3: ????
step 4: Profit?

Seriously though there is no strategy in Apoc. Its slam models on the table, and pack them up right after T1 of fire. like was said formations are ok, especially the titan hunter one, but the point costs for them is just "wtf?" sometimes. Just stick to the no force org chart and abuse as much as you can. if you expect titans, bring the titan hunter one and thats it.
