Hello long time Lurker first time plea for help


I am entering a League that gives you up to 150 points to spend on a HQ slot (which cannot be a special character), and up to 500 points to make your army legal and anything fun you can afford.

It has a few special rules. each victory gets you a point to place in any atribute on your HQ or one of the special rules on pave 72? of the rule book (feel no pain tank hunter etc). you can only spend the point on a stat once eg make a haemonculus T4(5) and not T4(6). and each time you loose you lose one of the special rules or buffed stats.

most games will be played at 500 points and that army can never change but for some missions you will be allowed more points, you will be told how many and for what mission 2 weeks ahead of time, so you may get another 250 for a city fight, so you can tailor the extra points for the senario but you wont know who you are playing against.

If all this makes sense the HQ and core i have taken is as follows

  • Archon, (djin blade, Blaster shadow field, drugs)
    I chose an archon as i figured 150 points is not a beneficial on a heamonculus, and i guess there would be a lot of power weapon toting space marine captains) sadly this means no wracks for me.

    7 wytches - an upgrade possibly hydra gauntlets, haywire grenades, hekatrix with a power weapon
    all in a raider with dark lance flicker field and night shields

    5 Kabalite warriors with a blaster in a venom with 2 splinter cannons

    1 Ravager 3 dark lances and night shields Flicker Field

    3 Reaver jet bikes with Cluster trops and heat lance

unless my maths if wrong, it may well be ill tripple check, this comes to 500 on the nose before HQ who has 15 points left


I don't think its a terible list but feel free to lay into it. if you think i should cut upgrades or be more inventive such as usting trophy wracks to help the army to not run away.

Now, I don't know the league rules, aside from what you say, but from that it sounds as if you can use your 150 points to get two haemonculi, since they use the same HQ slot. Had you considered that possibility?

That isnt clear, ill check whether I could do that. I can take from the 500 point section of the army to add another HQ, but I dont think it would be unbalanced to take a haemonculus duo for the 150pt HQ

well, you can actually take 3 per HQ slot, and they ARE only 50 apiece...

Just spend an extra 90 from your 500 and take Vect... totally worth it.

First off if I understand this right you have 150 pts to spend on a generic HQ right??? So most battles would be fought around the HQ, so what I would do is go big or go home with yours. So what I would field is.

145- Archon w/ Huskblade, Soultrap, Shadowfield, Combat Drugs
125- 5 Warriors w/ Blaster in Dual Cannon Venom
115- 5 Warriors in Raider w/ Flickerfields
115- Ravager w/ Flickerfield

Ok, this way barring anything short of a daemon prince or herald (you said only generic HQs right???) all you have to do is cause one wound, and their HQ is done. Pass a LD test and your Archon will become a walking avatar of death. Backing him up in this endevor is 12 poison shots, 5 lances, and 4 cannon fodder... I mean warriors

Pretty much your goal is to widdle down whatever is protecting their HQ (so tank... squad... everything) and then run in the Archon in for the kill.

Actually, what he said is that the 150 pt HQ couldn't be a special character. The other 500 pts can be used for HQs and he didn't say that couldn't include special characters (unless I missed something).

I think the consensus is that we need clarification on the rules in order to come up with anything helpful...

no, he made it sound as if he had 150pts toward a hq that didnt come out of his normal point total, and I suggested taking either 3 haemuns or putting the 150 toward vect and paying 90 out of his 500 point total, if that's legit...

Reallly sorry that I have been absent from the thread.

The 150 is separate from the 500 points of the army so I cannot spend over 150 points and any less than that are wasted. No matter how my HQ is kitted out I have 500 points for the army.

And No special characters other wise I would probably have gone for Malys or the duke.


For that reason I am with shadows Revenge that Its go big or go home with the HQ
The only reason I am not sure about husk blade is the leveling scheme that will see a lot of HQ's take eternal warrior.

My first game is tonight I will post how my games went, either in this thread or another Incase anyone is interested, I know I enjoy even a badly written battle report.

well i still would use the agoniser, shadowfield, pgl, drugs archon, but the huskblade has a lot of opportunities to make you lagh at the opponent...just for kicks Smile
