| OK, i recognized this when I was checking up, if the splinter cannon was FAQed. First let's establish the current rule situation: - BRB p.81 wrote:
- A Flyer can drop up to one bomb in its movement phase. If it does so, it counts as having already fired one weapon in its following Shooting phase,...
Sounds easy, but let's look at the FAQ. - DE FAQ 6ed 1.0 p.4 wrote:
- ... A void mine does not count towards the number of weapons a Voidraven Bomber can fire that turn.
What? OK, the black colour and the fact that this sentence appears in the FAQ part only and nowhere in the Errata or Rule Changes part makes it pretty clear that this is an old clarification and should not be there anymore. But a FAQ is an official document and since GW apparently decided some time ago to elevate FAQs from being soft 'we would decide so, but we don't want to force you' tidbits into 'that's how it should be played' some time ago (why this Information still isn't on the FAQ explanation page is another question. Seriously the text there is from 2008 and the fantasy section got changed) this ruling should be binding. I know this probably doesn't lead anywhere, but I just had to blow off some steam. I can live with the fact that the DE codex, despite being repeatedly being told otherwise, obviously was not written with 6ed in mind. I even can weather out the fact that the FAQ authors forgot that we have Harlequins in our Codex, too - again. But one has to wonder how much work was put into it, if even a simple, but important deletion is overlooked. Sorry for the incoherent rambling.

| Perhaps a "mine" is a special type of bomb(or not a bomb at all?) I gave up about 15 years ago on using logic with GW rules questions | |

| How are you so sure it should've been deleted? Maybe they left it there to give DE players an advantage w/ our Voidraven? Our flyers are not that hot anymore with 6th edition... We should have small advantages like these, given the fact we were supposed to be the fastest army. I'm very happy they left it in the FAQ, going to abuse it like crazy. | |

| As stated in the dex, taking it word by word ofc a Voidmine is a MINE! Not a bomb, but a MINE! That should explain it | |

| Mines and bombs are deployed the same way when deployed from standard aircraft (in the real, right now world), so the fact that its a mine and not a bomb shouldnt make a difference. Just another example of how little thought was put into most of the FAQs.
Still, it's there, may as well abuse it while you can.

| I think we all know by now that "real world" applications or explanations have little to no value in a "fantasy" game system such as this. Just as, and more so, with fluff explanations which have no place in clarifying rules.
Many would agree that the faq's, rules, etc are not fully thought out. but they are the rules, and it's what we play by. Until they fix it, by current faq: void mines (bomb or not) do not count toward how many weapons a voidraven bomber can fire that turn.
harlequins shadowseer veil of tears,: faq'd for eldar, but omited in the dark eldar faq. sure, they should faq both. does it matter? not really. They are both the same unit/model/ability, a faq for one applies to both unless they contradict, an omission is not a contradiction. we also know that faq's do cross reference.
They do this all over the place. We can give examples, there are a more than a few.
although it reads like you know the rules pretty well, you probably know them already. I certainly share your frustration with gw, they dropped the ball a little and not just on the faq's. but it's what we got, lol.

| Codex (and in my opinion, by extension of this, FaQs) overrides the Rulebook, as it is clearly stated at the bottom of page 7 of the BRB ... But does it really matter if using the Mine counts as using a shooting weapon? We can fire 4 weapons pr turn with Flyers, so unless you're willing to purchase Missiles for our already expensive Bomber, it doesnt even matter... | |

| also if you read the void mine rules and bomb rules, they are almost exactly the same. I see what they wanted, Until they fix it, I dont think it really matters too much though. | |
