Corsair Prins?

as i understand, it is quite popular to take an archon with the PGL. however has anyone considererd taking the Corsair Prince as an allied detatchment. he has also got grenades.

im thinking of maybe pairing him up with hellions, giving him a jetpack and maybe even a shadowfield if i got the points. could fill some of hellions weaker sides? is he worth it our maybe i should just go for the baron?

The Archon w/ PGL is there to support Incubi, really. Incubi don't come with grenades, and lack the option, but a PGL grants both assault and defensive grenades to the entire squad. The Archon is better than the prince for this because both he and the Incubi can ride in the same transport; allies can't ride in the main detachment's transports, and vice versa. The Prince definitely has a lot of use as the head of an allied detachment, though. Guaranteed night-fighting? Hell yes.

Jet Pack dont move as Jump Pack, remember that.

I personally like the Prince for the shimmershield that gives the unit an invuln save in close combat. Makes already tough units like incubi and grotesques an absolute horror to deal with.

As pointed out, Jet Pack isn't the same as Jump Pack, I can't ever really see giving him the upgrade. Overall, he's not quite as good as an archon, but brings some interesting tricks to the party.
