TDC Wiki.

After talking with Sky I have decided that I would like to work on bulking the Wiki up in a hope that it would take off.
What are people's thoughts on bringing back the Wiki?

It seems that I posted this thread a minute before Sky posted on another Wiki thread. http://www.thedarkcity.net/t2973-pulling-the-wiki Looks like we were on the smae wavelength.

Unless it involves painting.....I don't do fluff

I know I won't have time to do much I am, however, very good at differentiating between "skimmed online / played Dawn of War" facts and "actually read the Codex" facts so i could keep a watch out for spurious factoids - not added by your good selves but Wikis are open to everyone to edit, and I've heard of them being deliberately sabotaged before now.

I could do a bit of fluff patrol in case of such idiocy, if that would help

Maybe limiting the people who could edit them, special mod sanctioned edit passes, that way you can track who does what. 40k doesn't always have the maturest following, I would imagine sabotage to be common.

Especially seeing as things like Heresy Online recently getting hacked happen.

I'd like to see some sort of charter governing rules regarding how we write it, what references we use, what is and isnt allowed and who is allowed to take part.

Cavash, would you be able to create an example article that is full bodied, informative and interesting with correct references etc?

If the Wiki is to start up again I will be (re)creating a wiki forum for discussion of it. I am also thinking of generating a new 'Satelite' category which I can place forums such as the wiki, awards (currently hidden to muses only) and others.

I am up to help with unit tactica, army builds and so on

What we need to work on first is a charter, what we're going to achieve, how, who, why, etc.

We're waiting on Cavash to finish an example article to show what level of writing and commitment is needed.

It's an exciting project and I'm looking forward to it kicking off.

Feel free to open new threads to discuss ideas/sections etc for the wiki.

This is the first real forum I've started to take part in and I've only been here a few weeks but I'm enjoying it. I like writing stuff so may I help out at all? I know it's made up stuff just for fun but did any of you check out the army list fluff I put up the other day in the army list section? It'll give you an idea of the sort of way I like to write. Let me know.

Hey Cavash I'd like to help out with this project with what I can.

The Lexicanum DE Wiki is a good start...but really is just so nothing at all.

There are gobs of info to be had and I'd like to help out with writing up some articles. I was thinking on starting with Path of the Renegade. Some articles on parts of the city, the satellite realms like shahdom, etc.

Just want to point out to everyone that I don't want any fan fiction at all in this wiki, only referenced, official material.

We could look at having a section that is for fan fiction though, in the wiki.

Lucky, that sounds good. I'm gonna look at porting some of the sites images over there to keep the same look going.

Is this the kind of thing that you were looking? Obviously, when there are more articles, the links between pages can be put in.

For now, though, what do you think?

I think for entries like that you should look at dividing it into two sections - Background, which you have (and add more when they appear in future stories, codexes etc) and then in Game terms, where you can discuss quickly how they are available, their upgrades and equipment etc
