Homepage Message & Guest Pop-up

There's two new options that we can look at implementing if people like.

Homepage Message, it effectively looks like a forum category as would be placed just below the navbar. It would have an obvious title like Welcome to The Dark City and then a small wall of text explaining the foru, what to do and where to go etc.

Guest Pop-up, if youre not signed in a pop up will come everytime you visit the site saying hi and giving you the opportunity to register. Frankly I think that could be annoying but putting it out there.

I can also activate a welcome PM which is sent as soon as you register, this might be a good idea so that I can welcome all members, point them towards The Port etc?

EDIT - We can also do auto-birthday PMs too....

Home page could be a good idea, as long as it doesn't add too much clutter.

A pop-up would be bad.

Welcome and Bday PMs are always nice.

The home page could be nice, but can you make it so it isn't there if you're logged in? Similar to the Pop just... not a pop

I am all in favour for this. On a couple of other forums that I have been on (before finding TDC, I swear!) I got a welcome PM and it was effective at establishing a nice enviroment. B&C being the example.

This could also be very nice, but I wouldn't go too over the top with it for the fear of the page becoming overly long.

I have two views on this one. 'If I was lurking it would really annoy me' is the first view. The second is 'Yes, annoy them until they sign up! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!!!'... although, it may not work as well as the evil laugh wishes.

Welcome Message - this is now up and active, if you are a new member and reading this then please let us know what you think of it.

Guest Pop-Up - We won't be going with that as it is far too annoying.

Homepage Message - I dont think we really need it, I might experiment with it when some others are in the chat with me,

Birthday PM - It is coming but alas, top secret.
