Turn1
Battleship lumbers forward full 15 cm. Imperial Frigates roll a 7 to burn retros. Don't move. Imperial Destroyers roll a 5 to burn retros. Don't move.
The Battleship fires a nova cannon at battery escort 1, rolls 3d6 and misses 4 cm. The hellish blast cut clean through the shadow field and for one brief moment the fleet’s audio channels fill with a resounding blast and then there is silence where once there was the sounds of orders, shouts and general calls to arms
-----
Asgeir Squadron throttles up. Enraged the captain of the Dagur Asgeir barks quick orders to close the distance, burning hot and fast followed by order to fire all available weapons at the battleship. His volleys are joined by the Halvdan, the lone survivor of the Egil Squadron. The lumbering Battleship shrugs the fire off with its heavy shielding.
The Dread Archon Gjurd, smirking at the onset of battle and the rush of combat already going his way, cut his craft across the Imperial lines and order out his warriors in a flight of assault craft (x3) and fighter escorts (x1)
-----
The Apocalypse Battleship continues to lumber forward, the imperial Sword Class frigates succesfully the Dagur Asgeir and punish the rash Drachon with a beautiful blossom of fire that lights the void.
The Cobras destroyers step up and unleash a volley of Torpedoes, the Halvdan survives the crude mon keigh, only to be engulfed in a massive barrage from the Apocalypse’s Dorsal weapons.
The Apocalype’s unleashes another torrent of death from the nova cannon, this time at the Carrier, Gamel, the blast is lost in the shadows and darkness wrapped around the ship.
----
The Gamel’s brood reaches the destroyers, and the Imperial Vox’s fill with horror and screams as their crews are slaughtered or worse, taken. The destroyers themselves suffer critical damages, and are now little more that debris drifting as lifeless as the crew lucky enough to go down with the ship.
The Gamel comes about and opens on the Battleship, shreading some of the shields off the ship. The Carrier’s fire is joined by the Asgeir Squadron’s volleys, who manages a lucky lance shot across the engines of the Apocalypse. The engine blast rips through the bulk head causing further damage and frustration to the already tense navy vessel.
----
The Admiral in his rage orders all the battleship’s weapons to focus and fire upon the Gamel. The Archon wisely orders all hands brace, and what damage that comes through the shadows is negligible thanks to his foresight. The weapons systems that are not desperately trying to crush the Archon’s beloved carrier open on the Asgeir Squadron, but again all shots are swallowed in the gulf of shadows surrounding the cruisers.
-----
The Imperial command orders all hands brace as the blasts and smoke clears revealing the Dark fleet unscathed from such a volley.
The Archon bring his ships about and orders all weapons to open… only to see the worst shooting he could have imagined from his own kin. Someone will be kicked from an airlock for this failure!
----
The Imperials move forward desperately trying to ween more speed and agility from their vessels. What few guns the can bring to bear fire wildely into the void.
----
The Dread Archon Gjurd cackles madly as his attack craft launch off and bring down another cruiser.
The Dark Eldar fleet exchanges fire again, but nothing is truly damaged in the bout.
----
The battleship struggles forward unable to get the momentum to start to swing about. The Swords come about and obliterate one of the remaining Asgeir Squadron’s escorts.
----
Gjurd calls the engagement to a close, launches another attack squadron as he orders the Carrier to whip past the last remaining Sword. Then he and the one remaining Asgeir Cruiser open up upon the backside of the Apocalypse. The ships shields flicker and drop, the hull and engines are pocked and start to bulk but the ship hold.
Durring the barrage of death the light on the Battleship flick and blink out. Amid the rubble and debris the Imperial Admiral manages to slip off into the void, spared the torment and death that seemed so destined for them
----
On the whole, a messy game, but fun. We plan to get another one in soon. CC welcome
