Lately I'been painting my Harlequin Troupe, hoping to use it with my Eldar host, but a moment ago I guessed if I could bring them to battle with their dark kin too...
First, let's describe what you get with this unit:
Offensively (combat): 2 base attacks +1 per additional weapon, +1 when charging (almost always), WS 5 (just like Incubi) and FC. If you pay for kisses, then add rending attacks to the mix.
Offensively (shooting): shuriken pistols... but you can get a S6 AP5 Assault 3, Pinning weapon and up to 2 fusion pistols for 10 points each.
Defensively: 5++ save (no normal save) and +3 to cover saves (4+ in the open) if you pay for Shadowseer.
Mobility: no transport (except for dais if you pay for Vect +200 points), fleet and ignore terrain in movement (and assault). Also Hit and Run.
Discussion:
Well, due to the fact that our army is mainly mech-ed, harlequins seem quite out of place, but let me guess... if we can get them out of a WWP. Yeah they can't assault, but they're still able to shoot (and their optional weapons are gold), and they'll be quite safe with a 2+ cover save in cover. The next turn they'll be able to destroy many kind of enemy units, but also can be the ones to declare a charge in the first place in order to absorb the Overwatch shots.
I'll give them a try in my next battle. Harlequins out of the Webway... fluffy enough
They cost almost the same as my Wyches+Heami+Raider so it won't be difficult to put them in.
