| I'm new to the Dark Eldar so still learning so please excuse my ignorance but they are the fastest army in the 40k universe still are they not? A venom and raider etc, are fast open top skimmers but fly them at full speed 18 inches right? and you cant assault from them, so you park them ready to assault next turn and you just get shot to hell before you can do anything. Speed get you there and then makes you a sitting duck. | |

| Well, DE have lost some (reliable) speed in 6th. You do have the qbility to fly up to 30" per round by driving 12" in the movement phase and then doing a flat out movement in the shooting phase.
The thing about assaulting is, that in 6th you can only move up to 6" before disembarking and attacking. It's a bit of a buff, but with fleet and the new assault rules, you can get lucky and still have a huge range.

| There's two things I've learnt the hard way as a DE player: 1) You NEED to use cover. Thankfully because we have small fast skimmers finding cover isn't *too* difficult. Don't forget you can move flat out to find the best position. 2) Target saturation. Present multiple threats at once- your opponent might be able to shoot down some of your transports but he probably can't shoot them all down.
The combination of open-topped and fleet is great for assaults- move transport 6", 6" disembark move, and then 2D6" assault with reroll. When rolling the charge, reroll anything 3 or less, and your average charge will be 8.5". There's not too many armies that can reliably pull off 18-20" charges!

| Ah so that's how its done, got it, yeah your right awesome. I had a great game on Saturday against Blood Angels, got my ass kicked but it was fun and a learning curve indeed. One of the other players did mention, DE are about finesse, and that's what makes them a really rewarding army to play when played well. | |

| Also remember that you now move 6" immediately upon disembarkation, so overall you're still getting your guys 12" further, and the Raider is safer. You do lose about 3" compared to last edition where you moved 12" and disembarked with your base touching a 2" bubble around the vehicle, but you also get much more positioning power due to disembarking and moving each model one by one. As said by the others, going flat-out to get out of sight but close to your opponent is good, don't try to just fly everything up in their face and pray you pass a million 4+ cover saves. | |

| where is it in the new rules about getting out of the open topped vehicle 6 inches from the hull and then doing the charge of 2D6? Is that for any open topped vehicle or just Dark Eldar? | |
