Hi guys! I didn't really know about this section when I joined and never introduced myself. How impertinent of me! It now seems like one of those strange instances when you've met and talked to someone many times but still never acquired their name so you have that awkward moment of introducing yourself a month or two after 'knowing' them. Haha any who. Hi guys! I've already had the good fortune of being a recipient of many good ideas the friendly people here have imparted to me so I already owe a thanks!
I'm picking up DE again after a friend got me back into 40k just at the end of 5th. We played one game before the new rule book and that was with me using his GKs army. That wet my appetite to collect and I dusted off a very old box of 40k models from the depths of my storage room. I hadn't played since 3rd edition when I walked into the GW store as a 10 or so year old kid, looked around and said "I like the spiky ones". Whereupon my mother promptly bought me a pack of warriors, a raider and an archon. I was off!! And continued in a similar fashion (not knowing anything about list building or strategy) until I had scores of warriors with no transports and a complete deathstar unit of incubi, archon, haemonculi and drazhar in a raider! I rarely one battles but loved to play. Hated to paint. I was far too impatient as a child and couldn't sit doing anything for a long time except chess. I was a good junior chess player and my greatest triumph was wining the team nationals competition with my county. I guess this is why I love the strategic side of 40k.
Now, I love the fluff, the models look fantastic, I enjoy the modelling side although I wish I was better and I love how our army plays. So many tactical opportunities with different units it'll be very hard to get bored. They are the only army I've ever collected and I wouldn't seriously consider anything else except possibly Eldar if their new codex is nice. My brother collected years back when so I have some models kicking around and I'm currently experimenting with Eldar allies.
All in all I hope I can be as much of an asset to this community as it has been to me so far! Take care all. See you in the war room!
