Will you use Eldar as allies when their codex is redone?

I pose a question to you. The Eldar codex is redone and is full of great choices to take as allies for DE, the choices either synergise well with our list, work well as fluffy additions/counts as or are just too damn cool to resist/models are mind blowing. Of course you're gonna have to drop some of your general choices but why not eh?

As our only Battle Brothers I think we'd be foolish not to use the Craftworld Eldar, particularly if they get an improved codex.

Depends on what the codex contains obviously. If it's good then of course I will, if it's not good then I might not. Still it would have to be pretty bad to not be worth it in some fashion. After all, as Count Adhemar pointed out, they are our only Battle Brothers it would be foolish not to use them if they fit in your list.

I don't see why I wouldn't. I already do it with this Codex and most certainly will continue doing so as soon as the new one drops. They synergize wonderfully and it is fluffy and awesome and presents unlimited converting possibilities. I'd actually go so far as to consider it an official extension of our Codex!

I use the bare minimal most of the time for allies (jetseer + 3 GJB) and have started branching out to see what else CWE can bring for us. As for them as an army, I will start them when they get re-worked, but DE will always be my main army.

Having a CWE army as a completely seperate force, however, I would have depending on the models. I have wanted a CWE army for a long time, but no, never as allies.

Why not?

Because I am stuck in my fifth edition ways. I don't like allies, I never have done, I never will do. I think it's a marketing shceme for GW to get more money (I don't blame them, it is business, afterall.) I just like having my DE pure, just like I will never ally my Night Lords with anything. I want to play a specific codex, not with elements from others.
It's just personal preference, I guess.

Well, i properly will... But its far in the distant future... But I want to read the codex before I do anything...

I'd rather start up a whole new army rather than use allies in my general lists. Tournament play, friendly play, the "Wish I could" list building.... any of that. Pure is the way I'd go. I even sometimes feel weird mixing more than just 1 or 2 units of a Coven or Cult into a Kabal; or sticking some Blasterborn into a Coven gathering; etc. That's about as far as I will go, most often.

That being said, the only time I would use allies and be happy about it, would be during a campaign. One where a specific mission or game's scenario for that part of the campaign called for the addition to my list of (not the inclusion within) of allies. There's story there that has been enfolding AFTER my army has been made that will not mess with my army's fluff I've already developed.

Sometimes I feel like Cavash and Super Dave do about allies. And sometimes I feel they're fantastic.

I'd certainly give CWE a go when I'm feeling they're all fantastic, which is more and more of the time now. And maybe even the other way around. I do sometime dream of the Grand Pointy Eared Alliance...

Hell yes! The only reason I don't now is I'll have to buy a whole new set of models when the re release them. But I'll start collecting forge world in preparation!

When I started out with my DE I had quite a big part of the list filled with eldar allies. I played Eldar way back in the end of 4th edition but shelved them in 5th edition due to some major hits with the nerfing bat slugging down on my local meta. No LOS blocking and an insane amount of cover made my games against my main opponent, Orks, a real joke,...
Well, when it was time to give the dark kin a try I felt that it was time to dust em of and field em as allies =)

The DE and E overlap each other in a very nice way. DE with superior AI shooting and hay wire wyches. Eldar brings "stronger" cc units and plenty of str 6 shots to the table. Both armies got lance weaponry, even thoughthe dark kins is more cost effective =)
To answer the topic: Yes I could consider fielding Eldar as a ally detachment, heck I could even field Eldar as primary and Dark Eldar as allies. The pure Dark Eldar army is and will continue to be my main army though ^^

The evolving fluff of my DE army has them now as a pirate fleet - a fleet of Dark Eldar and Corsairs feels like a bunch of jaded nobles wishing for a return to the glory days, in a way that is not at all like Londo Mollari.

I do design lists with eldar as allies at the moment, so I would most certainly continue once they get a new codex. Would no doubt offer up a whole lot more variety for our lists, which is a good thing in my opinion.
