| Welcome to the city!
When i use wyches I kit them 9 strong (haywire grenades maybe Hydra Gaunts) with a hekatrix with a PGL and a venom blade. Inside a Raider (NS & Dizzy)
general use with my set up is for tarpitting, and vehicle disposal. Just be careful against Flamer templates, wyches dont stand up to those very well. Overall against sisters if you get into melee with them you should have an easier time than not, they have a worse WS and Int than you and you can exploite that, also the invuln save works to your benefit.

| There are a number of ways to 'best' use Wyches.
I would submit nowadays they are best as tarpits and vehicle wreckers - some people still like to run them as a core assault unit, and that's possible as well. Generally speaking their best role would be dictated by what the rest of your army is doing.
At a very simplistic core though - take a handful of them, give them HWGs and take a Hekatrix with a Venom Blade - then you've got a decent multi purpose assault/vehicle killing unit that can fill a couple of roles in an army.
This advice is terrible even though it is correct and the unit described is very adaptable though - very little in a DE army exists in a vacuum, and Wyches are certainly not a unit that has a universal use, their use is always dictated by what the army needs them to do.
Hope that makes sense. | |

| You should almost always take a PGL if you are fielding a hekatrix, 10pts for stealth against shooting within 8" really makes them a lot more usable and helps them beat overwatch (in conjunction with cover and screening units). Hope that helps. | |

| Honestly, I don't think you get the mileage out of hydragauntlets because of the fact they are typically low strength attacks.
If you're going the grenade route then I wouldn't even both sinking many points into a Hekatrix or other fun stuff. Generally, I take a pessimistic view of survivability after 1 turn of grenades.
If you're using them as tarpits, I wouldn't bother with hydragauntlets. For that I would definitely use shardnets. I would use them in 2 ways:
1) To minimize the amount of attacks from a specific model like an Avatar. Or even a powerclaw toting nob. While your save is the same against normal or powerfist attacks, the ease at which they wound is much higher with the fist so it makes sense to drop the number of attacks from the powerfist. 2) To spread out and minimize the number of total attacks from a squad (assault marines, orks, etc.). This is of course the preferred route in most cases.
If you are going to get charged, try to put the nets a bit behind the front line so that when it is their turn to fight (which is normally first) they can move in and maximize the number of models the shardnet affects. | |

| If it's a small point total, I use 10 wyches and send them through a webway portal i put in my opponents backyard, or put them in a raider, and give them 2 pairs of Hydra Gauntlets, and have a Hekatrix with an agoniser, blast pistol, and phantasm. I always give all my Wyches Haywire grenades no matter what. If it is a larger point total, I grab a squad of 15, keep them in reserves, and let the enemy come to me sometimes (weird tactic I know, but all my buddies fall for it every time xD ) or I use a Webway portal. I give the Hekatrix the same think plus a Phantasm 'Nade Launcher, and give the squad three pairs of Hydra Gauntlets, and sometimes I throw a Succubus in with them with ANOTHER pair of Hydra Gauntlets. I like Hydra Gauntlets. A lot. No seriously, like, A LOT. 4d6 extra attacks? WHY NOT!? The most important thing about Wyches though, KEEP THEM IN COVER OR CLOSE COMBAT. 6+ armour save doesn't do jack squat against pretty much anything. They usually don't even get those saves because even bolters are AP 5 as are most main shooting weapons, just like out Splinter Rifles. Once they are on the battlefield, move them carefully, and get them into close combat ASAP! | |
