Ravager Paint Scheme HELP!!!

I just bought my first Ravager.

I want to paint it, but I also want it to fit in with my current paint scheme without being identical to my Raiders. I've read that some other people just reverse their color scheme, but I'm not sure how well that will look in my case. My scheme is Mechrite Red/Khorne Red base with Macharius Solar Orange/Jokero Orange.

I feel that if I reverse the scheme it will be WAY too orange and the red detail won't stand out enough.

So, my fellow Archons, I'm looking for suggestions and/or inspiration.

Any ideas?

What about using the Sail color for the hull, and the red as the sail?

Personally, I'm just using the same scheme; if they don't see the little people on the sides with more guns, that's mostly their fault when they see the list and don't ask... (joking...)

You could always give the Ravager a completly different sail color and keep the hulls the same. The small detail would keep them still unified yet different looking.

I agree, that just reversing the color scheme would probably look strange. Using the sail color for the hull might look odd too, because it changes the tone of the model completely.

There is always the option to not change your color scheme at all and just paint Raiders and Ravagers the same, because they are essentially the same model.

If you really want to differentiate them I can think of several possible ways, that aren't to complicated:
1. Change the sail color. It's easy, doesn't change the general tone of the model, but should stand out.

2. Change the metal color. If you use a different metal color for Ravagers, for example gold, it would change the model enough to stand out.

3. Change some details to be the secondary color. If you just use more orange on Ravagers they will stand out, without looking too different. Good places would be the ram, gun shields and/or all/some of the lower armor plates.

An additional possibility, albeit more difficult, would be to use a different red to mark ravagers, but it will be some work to find a color that looks different enough, but still close and not bad.

This. Mine get painted the same. You wouldn't expect someone to do a different paint scheme on a Rhino and a Razorback would you?

I actually use a very similar colour scheme, but with black sails. I would recommend trying a dark sail colour if you really want your Ravagers and Raiders to be different.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think changing the sail color is a perfect idea, I never would have thought of that. It's simple and effective.

Here's a follow-up question:

I like the idea of a dark sail color Plastikente, but what kind of color would you suggest? I was thinking a dark blue or even black.

After fiddling with MS Paint, I think I like a very pastel purple as well or possibly just making the sail orange like the detail on the model.

Personally, I would stick to a plain black or white as I don't like too many colours in my schemes, but ultimately it's down to your personal taste. Playing with MS paint is a good way to experiment until you find something you like.

Personally I think paint them the same, the turrets, are more then enough to tell them apart. I use the same colors the same way for all my kabal, my cult, and coven each have a different secondary color do to fluff. If they weren't united they would each have their own colors.

... i use the old raiders instead of the new ones ( i dont like the new raider models) and so i havent had this problem... perhaps having gold metal, paint the sail black, brighter base tone?
