Ravager- 115 3x Dark Lances, Night Shields
Ravager- 115 3x Dark Lances, Night Shields
THE LOGIC:
The way this is list (theoretically) set-up, is a one-two-three combo, with ravagers firing, popping open transports, venoms and dissie raider moving into position to whittle down infantry (and force morale checks if possible) and then reavers bladevaning to cause more casualties and claim the pain tokens they need to snowball.
The three troop choices i sort of like, since they don't feel like spamming. The gunboat warrior serves as a projection/area control unit, whilst the venom warrior exists for either late game objective claiming or opportunistic tank ganking. The wyches are expendable tank-hunting commandoes, and exist in case i meet black templars with crusaders. At most I will claim one objective, two if lucky.
Perhaps an issue with this list, is whether i should strip away the warriors, and in its place run 7-8 wyches to escort my IC, to support the incubi.

| the list doesnt look half bad, the only thing that comes to my mind is drop the trueborn for another 5 man warrior squad. While you dont get the same amount of splinterfire out of the warriors as you do the trueborn, it gives you a 4th troop option. Something that is huge in a game where 5/6 of your missions need troops to score. | |

| Alongside this one, I've also devised a venom spam version.
Which in my opinion is rather one dimensional, but the numbers do look good, 9 dark lances, 17 blasters, up to 84 splinter cannon shots, 20-40 rifle shots. One weakness of venom spams is their need to get a little too close to do the damage, especially with blasterborn. I have 11 vehicles, i.e 11 targets that enemy must pick.
It is offensively a little weaker, and takes a lot longer to achieve its goal, but the combo is this:
a) pop open transports/vehicles b) drown infantry with splinter shots with venoms (with the aim of actually wiping out the unit, or reduce them below 25%) c) use blasterborn and warrior blasters to finish off what the ravagers can't quite destroy.
However this comp is a lot more effective against blob-style armies.
For my first list- Just had some thoughts on incubi- whilst great on paper, but the things they're good at killing, also tends to kill them, but yet if you don't use them against high value target, then they're sort of wasted. I'd love to use them but this probably means swapping out the warriors for a 7-9 wych unit so there's some assault presence to tie down the enemy, in conjunction with reaver assaults (only at late game).
Failing that the incubi goes entirely and will be replaced by an archon with a blaster and his blasterborn bodyguard, and frees up about 40-70 something points. Could be used to turn splinterborn into blasterborn for more anti-tank/heavy infantry.

| Incubi are best when they are chewing through MEQ (so tactical, sternguard, vanguard, CSM, Crisis Suits)
When you start hitting things with 2+ armorsaves, your normally looking at them having weapons to hurt them back, and an invul. While I would throw Incubi against say... tactical termies (Fist/Bolter ones) I wouldnt do it all the time, and I would never throw them at assault termies (TH/SS ones). But when there are mass 2+ on the field, its where your splinterfire and dark lances come in handy.
I wouldnt drop the incubi. They are a great addition to any force, and I think your find how to use them after trying them for a couple of games.
