So here I sit, in quite a pickle. I need to make a 1000pts list for an upcoming tournament. This would be easy, UNLESS! Two participants worry me greatly - one plays IG, the other Necrons. I know for sure that the IG list is a nasty one - four chimeras, Leman Russ with bolters, three inf squads with autocannons, the obligatory triple las Vendetta, and a Hades Breaching Drill. Necrons, well... I believe we all know how powerful our Ancient Enemy is.
I have three lists in mind.
First one:
Archon, Venom Blade, Shadowfield, Haywire grenades
sits with
Wyches x6, Haywire grenades in a Raider (DL), Night Shields
Warriors x5, Blasterin in a Venom, Splinter Cannon
Warriors x5, Blaster in a Raider (DL)
Warriors x5, Blaster in a Raider (DL)
Trueborn x3, Splinter Cannon x2 in a Venom, Splinter Cannon
Ravager, Night Shields
Voidraven, Flickerfield
998pts, 13 kill points, 11 lances, 6 splinter cannons
Second list:
Succubus, Venom Blade, Haywire grenades
sits with Wyches x9, Haywire grenades in a Raider (DL), Night Shields
Trueborn x4, Blasters x4 in a Raider (DL), Night Shields
Warriors x5, Blaster in a Venom, SC
Warriors x5, Blaster in a Venom, SC
Warriors x5
Ravager (DL), Night Shields
Razorwing (DL), Splinter Cannon, Flickerfield
1000pts, 12 kill points, 13 lances, 5 splinter cannons
Third list:
Archon, Power lance, Venom Blade, Shadowfield, Soul trap, Combat drugs
with Incubi x4 in a Raider (DL), Night Shields
Warriors x5, Blaster in a Venom, SC
Warriors x5, Blaster in a Venom SC
Warriors x10, Sybarite, Splinter Cannon in a Raider (DL), Splinter racks
Ravager (DL), Night Shields
Razorwing (DL), Splinter Cannon, Flickerfield
998 pts, 11 kill points, 9 lances, 6 splinter cannons
First list I tested out today, with somewhat poor results - I simply am not used to the MSU playstyle and was far too aggressive, rolling up my boats in the enemy deployment zone. I wasn't really impressed about Voidraven's performance, though I was facing a pure footslog DA list, so things might change. Second list is tailored purely on demechanizing the enemy while remaining rather barebones, while third list is something that I find to be a little bit more fun and gimmicky, though more risky. Both second and third lists also have a Razorwing in them instead of Voidraven - I find Razorwing simply is more of a threat because I have a horrible luck with hitting with lances.
I would like to hear your thoughts on these lists.
