Hi again!
Last weekend me and my friends drove to nearby town to attend a tournament of three games with 1250 point limit. This time I decided to take more traditional list with me to try it out. my list was (as posted on the lists section)
Baron
4 x 5 Kabalites, blaster, venom
2 x 5 Wyches, grenades, Dl raider
Beastpack with 7 khymerae and 4 razorwing
2 x Ravager
First game was 6 objective Scouring. My opponent had three Dark Angel Land Raider Crusaders with dakkabanner and 4++ save. At first I thought 3 land raiders this should be easy. Then I realized the amount of dakka they put out. 2 times 6 Salvo 4 bolters at 24” rips most of my units apart in one go. And that times three plus normal LRC weapons. The table had two big buildings but almost no other terrain. He won the roll of and decided to go first. I deployed most of my army out of his limited 30” range. (even with small boards) He got the first blood from one Venom. In my turn I managed to get one penetrating hit to forward most Land raider immobilizing it. After that I was able to block him to his deployment zone and shoot freely with two Ravagers. In the end one wych squad wrecked one of Land Raiders. The other two stayed on the board with their 4++. With my scoring beast herd that came from reserves and lots of other troops I scored a 16-4 victory.
Picture from showing my ravagers beeing outside of the limited range of Crusaders.
The second game (big gunz) was against Chaos marines with 2 Khorne lords on juggernauts both leading 5 spawns. He also had two squads of three obliterators with Nurgle mark and two squads of Cultists with no upgrades. The table had lots of terrain but no real losblocks. I got the first turn and managet to kill 2 spawns from one of the squads and two wound on his non warlord lord. One obliterator was killed. In his turn he advanced as much as he could but a little cautiously with the other spawn squad. Night negated totally his obliterators shooting. Second turn I managed to wipe out the first lord and his squad of spawns along with 3 oblies. I also brought the beast herd without the Baron to tie up his second spawn group but couldn’t charge due to coming from reserves. Should have included the baron I was afraid of running out of the board against the spawns charge. This game we were playing way too slow as we were forced to stop after T3. And even tough that I build my list to this tactic I was not looking at the clock and had no objectives at the time. (we were informed of the time after my T3 moves, but I should watch for time myself also) So in the end he had one objective despite me shooting his behind off. 8-12 defeat.
Situation after my first turn of shooting. Cultists and beast herd still in reserve.
Third game was against my friends 10 Paladins, Coteaz, Inquisitor with grenades, 2 dread knights, psyffleman and three units of three acolytes. The mission was killpoints. Yeah! He won the roll to go first and I was not able to steal it back. Despite the night and big losblock in the middle of the field he was able to get first blood with his dreadnought shooting a Venom. I retaliated and wrecked the psyffleman with a ravager. We then proceeded to kill our units at same pace him leading slightly all the time. I had one Venom in his deployment zone killing his acolytes that came from reserves. There was special lightning (D6 hits S8 AP- ignore cover) that came before my second turn. It struck only on a roll of one with a D6. I was lycky that I was not hit at all and one of his Dread knights lost a wound. His other Dread knight stayed in reserves until T4 and was able to claim line breaker. I tried to charge it with my beast pack but failed the 5” charge even with fleet. I was able to once make the paladins take a morale check which they failed, but regrouped the next turn. We stopped the game after T4 since we were not competing for the tournament win. I lost again by one killpoint and first blood. Both warlords were alive. If the game had continued I might have been able to table him on T6 but very likely on T5 on which he still would have won slightly. 8-12 loss again.
A fun tournament but small tables are not for me (or Dark Eldar). The list worked well I got the upper hand on most games. In the future I need to practice to play faster as most of my games don’t have time to finish in the normal time that we have at tournaments. Not specifically this one but generally also. Don’t know how I finished but probably in the middle pack somewere.
Thanks for reading.
