| Hey guys !
I've been completely destroyed by a shooty army of Nids. I did some mistake on the deployment but overall he out-shooted me so much.
What would you use against a Nids army ?
Close Combat or Shoot ? | |

| Always shoot nids!
you should be able to mop the table with him.
Take venoms. lots of them. Take trueborn with splintercannons. lots of them.
ALWAYS take nightshields. Nids range isn't great, so dropping it by another 6" is nasty to him.
Follow those words of advice, and you won't go wrong

| Would you use an aegis defense line with the quad gun ? | |

Only if there's a flyrant on the table. Otherwise, I'd stick with putting as many venoms on the table as possible and peppering him from afar with poisoned shots, laughing as his high Toughness means nothing. Oh, and if you see the Doom of Malantai on the board, DESTROY IT IMMEDIATELY BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. I neglected to do this the last game I had against the 'nids, and paid for it dearly.

| Everything they said. I've recently been playing against double flyrants which can be nails so I've been using my min sized warrior squads and anything GtG to try and force grounding tests. If one gets through to ground it I pounce on it and kill it. If not I don't direct more valuable fire at it. | |

| You really don't need quad guns for FMCs. Gunboats and Venoms bring enough shots to force those all-important grounding tests, and they're kind enough to fly right into rapid-fire range, usually of multiple units. | |

| Well an Archon using a quad gun is something to think of. BS 7 and the gun is Twin-linked.. you are almost certain to hit and S7 mean you will often wound on 2 or 3.
How about hiding 2 unit of trueborn behind an aegis line with some Splinter Cannon ?
At the minimum, 3 Truebron with 2 Splinter Cannon cost 56 points. - 2 unit behind an Aegis will cost 212 pts. - At 36" you get 24 poison shot + 4 shot S7. ( around 8 wounds of Poison + Quad gun damage and you can wound vehicle with the quad ). - You also have a 4+ cover save.
- 2 unit of trueborn, each inside a venom ( night shield and SC upgrade ) it will cost 262. - At 36" you will have 48 shot poison if you did not move and 40 if you moved. ( Around 16 wounds if you did not move, can't wound vehicle ) - You depend on your vehicle plating.
They both have their purpose, but I think that the aegis option is giving more option while the venom gives you mobility. Taking trueborn on foot also gives you the opportunity to take 2 DL instead to destroy vehicle, terminator or monster.
What do you think guys ? | |

| This battle report might be helpful, although there was only one flyrant.
Take out the hive guard and the just dance around the rest of the tyranids is my advice.

| That's a nice Battle report !
I think my mistake was that I had too much unit in reserves. Next time I will put more on the table even if I do not have the 1st turn.. again.

| I've got to 2nd starting on the table, grabbing nightshields, and taking out those hive guard first. Generally it's shoot an back up, shoot and back up, shoot an back up, then dive in and take some objectives.
Nids are all about having specialists backed up by either large numbers crappy dudes or generalist monstrous critters. Take down their synapse and their important dudes. Hit the Doom with Dark Lances. Kill those cover granting dudes if they're giving cover to something you want to shoot at.
Don't let those mobs of gribblies get the charge on you. They're much, much stronger if they do.

| I had a nids match the other day and all you need for flyrant is what others have said. Ground that turd and watch it die. Good advice on the doom though. Make it dissapear fast. I held it in cc for a while the obliterated it. Not recommending that of course, just wanted to test out BMs. Keep them out of range and fire away.

| Yeah I get the point : dedicated transport for every unit, as mobility is the key.

| Shooty nid are surprisingly shooty. I've fought two nid armies recently. The shooty one nearly tabled me in a bloody game, the CC one got the tabling to end all tablings. | |

| Take dissies as well on your ravagers, and raiders the dissies are horrible for nids. | |
