| I started playing Fantasy a few years ago and never really gave 40k the time of day. I've always been a fan of swords-and-spells, so looking at the poster boys for 40k was a massive turn-off. In fact, for the longest time I wouldn't give Warhammer the time of day until I saw Daemonette models for the first time and decided that "whatever those things are, I want an army of them!" Even when I was just into Fantasy, though, I really loved the look of the Dark Eldar. The current codex had only recently come out and though I had a disdain for 40k in general (Space Marines bore(d) me, Chaos Space Marines looked clunky and silly, and nothing else appealed to me). In passing, Eldar and Dark Eldar were the only ones that I really looked at twice, the only things that stopped me from getting either were - with the exception of Harlequins, Howling Banshees, and maybe one of their HQ choices - nothing in the Eldar army really stood out to me. I didn't dislike the models, I just didn't click with them. I thought from the word go that Dark Eldar were the most aesthetically interesting army in 40k, but didn't like what I thought at the time was the absence of something truly unique-looking like the Harlequins. When I finally caved and bought the DE codex to have a closer look, I fell in love with the fluff. Slaanesh has always been my favourite out of the Chaos gods and up until that point I had no idea that the (D)Eldar had a fluff that tied together my favourite god and the only 40k armies to really catch my eye. To seal the deal, when I looked at the units I found I could take Harlequins. Like I said, I fell out with Warhammer for a little bit - I moved from Liverpool to Stoke-On-Trent for university and didn't know anyone else who played, so my interest waned. Upon finding a small group of friends at the end of my first year, at the beginning of second year we started going into GW, playing a few games and relearning the rules. I've still not got the Dark Eldar army I've been planning for this long (So far I've just been using my Slaanesh Daemons), but because of some issues I have with the new Daemons 40k codex, I'm starting to slowly build it up. Without wanting to make this post too long, here's a few facts about myself. - I'm originally from Liverpool, but now stationed in Stoke-On-Trent.
- I'm in university doing a joint creative writing and philosophy course... Because I suppose I'm a job-market masochist like that.
- I'm pretty shy, so usually I need someone else to make the first move when it comes to talking to people.
- I'm a Fantasy player at heart, though when it comes to 40k I have my eye on Dark Eldar, Eldar, and Sisters Of Battle (Assuming GW revamps them). I also have a theory to do with Malal and Tyranids which makes me want to maybe do Tyranids, too.
- The Lamenters and Salamanders are the only Space Marine chapters that I don't either despise or find boring.
- I'm an expert procrastinator.
- I'm also purty lazy, sleeping in until midday/early afternoon is commonplace for me and I'm lucky I have a fast metabolism/small appetite combo because I do next to no exercise besides walking to/from places.
- Insects and birds flying near me freak me out, though generally speaking I'm more an animal-person than a people-person.
- I have a tendency to be sarcastic, occasionally forgetting that context can be lost online. If you can forgive that then I'm sure we'll get along swimmingly.
TL;DR: I didn't like 40k, then I did, then I didn't, then I did again, now I'm building Dark Eldar when I should be doing uni work.

| Also a fan of Tim Burton (or at least his adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), judging by the thread title. | |

| I'm fully expecting a Burton themed army now. Coven units inspired by Edward Scissorhands, Batman Kabalites, and Sweeny Todd Wyches. | |

'fraid not. It's going to be an all-female cyber goth invasion party. XP Though I might see to some kind of Tim Burton one once I feel more confident with green-stuff. Seeing a load of Corpse Brides running around would be fun, indeed. Edit: Alternatively an army based on Repo! The Genetic Opera could be on the cards at some point.
