What do Dark Eldar eat?

Asides whatever they can steal?

They eat whatever they want. Dark Eldar are the masters of the universe and can plunder nearly any world across the galaxy. I guess it depends on their social status, though.

A Dark Eldar slave is likely going to eat reconstituted corpse picked from the river Khaides while it's mentioned that Haemonculi enjoy the finer things, the left hands of their victims and glasses full of tears being mentioned in the codex.

They can have any of these and anything in between! Feel free to use your imagination. I like to think that those amongst the Incubi Sects feast upon protein packages that can be hydrated into a thick goop, as is described in Thor's story: Incubi.

I hope this helps. Smile

Yes, very vague

In my fic I have a fave of them if beef (a nod to myth and cattle raiding)

Imagine the consternation at finding a tin of Khorned beef (Eldar languages don't discern between K and C)

Then having to try to open it

lol, I do like that idea.

In a piece that I wrote a while ago (But haven't got around to posting because I was fourteen and the quality is terrible) my Archon grew disenchanted with his head chef's food. He demanded that his heart be plucked from his chest and braised in water scented with sorrow of the victim.

The Haemonculus Urmihad has wrote a bestselling book "How to Cook a Slave", and is a well known cook all around Comorragh!
His favourite meals include slaves (ofc), especially orks, as well as anything big produced by the underground manufactories.
Overeating is no problem to haemies, and I am sure that they are often paid by others for them to lose some weight!

Nope. When you've already had baked or stuffed heart on innumerable occasions there;s nopoint to stick with the norm.

Some fluff on what dark eldar like to read in the Dark Eldar path trilogy.

The big archons eat extremely well, even better than any imperial. It's by status like everyone says, the low slaves may be forced to eat other slaves.

I memember this scene in the Path of the Renegade, where they had all types of very exotic meats on their table, all coming from extinct animals. even when it comes to food, they're cruel.
Since they are eldar, they also have superior coocking skills.

I know Craftworld eldar are mostly vegetarian, but not 100%. Dark Eldar enjoy rare meats, any type, any animal.

I'm pretty sure most Kabal members eat pretty good food. Warriors may seem low for most people who aren't familiar with the dark eldar fluff, however they are an elite class, they are the best of all the warriors, only chosen because they are the best. It's a lot harder becoming a warrior than you may think. Individuals like incubi are the super mega elite, very experienced and old fighters. (old in age, not in body)
Elite warriors have elite food.

I'm pretty sure Kabal may have cattle of some sort. Commorragh is extremely big, you've got the lviing quarters, the big fortresses where the Archosn hang out, but you also got training ground and factories, whether weapons, or testtube babies. I'm sure that somewhere there are some facilities specialised in food production.

In general, I'd imagine most things in Commorragh, including food, are made by slaves or from slaves, if not both.

I did have the players take part in a Dark Eldar banquet when I ran the Soul Reaver adventure for Rogue Trader, tho the food served was mostly copied from a Slaaneshi cultist banquest from one of the Black Crusade campaign books. I'd imagine the actual nutritional value would be secondary concern (Dark Eldar seem to be able to subsists entirely on pain and misery), so the food would be chosen primarily for interesting taste or weird effects. In this case it included things like live crustaceans that if not eaten correctly would shred your throat with their claws and fruits so tasty it would be difficult to resist eating them untill you puke. Oh, and after the slave working as the cook messed somethign up, they brough him to the table and had him carved up and eaten in front of the players. Since it's not Dark Eldar if somebody doesn't die in a gruesome and painful way. I doubt they can wash their laundry without torturing somebody to death.
