| What do you think of this? Deploy 4 trueborn 2DL in a raider with Ff. Infront of 2 other raiders. first turn get trueborn to terrain then run the empty raider if it still lives with one of the two raiders and use it as cover. | |

| Take 3 trueborn per squad instead of 4.. saves you points on models that are frankly a waste..4 or 3.. if they get shot at they are generally all dead anyway..
I also wouldn't bother with FF saving another 10 pts.. this is because we get jink save when we move..
The idea of cover blocking works in theory but in practice that's some expensive cover.. that isn't very tough.. you'd be better off flat outing the raiders to their positions first turn with the wyches .. using the board cover which is free instead of a 60 point AV 10 shield that bolters can glance to death easily..investing points from the saved points into nightshields for the wych raiders is probably more optimal...
Try to start the trueborn in cover using your raider for things that need to get closer or be ready to reposition...

| Why don't you deploy the DL Trueborn separate from the Raider? Starting them in the Raider has no advantages. They can't fire first turn and are in serious danger of dying. Even if you can't deploy them in cover or want to move them to a better position out of your deployment zone they will have a better chance to survive and actually reach their destination.
And what do you mean by "use it as cover"? During first turn it's viable, because jink won't worj, before you move, but after you'll always get a 5+ cover save, the same you'll get from an intervening Raider.
Starting a spare raider with your Wyches is a good idea, if you want them to have a backup way to get across the board. But in this case I'd start them out of the raider, because an exploding raider probably does more damage than everything that will hit them behind the raiders.
If you just want a first turn cover screen I'd suggest using a venom. It's the far superior option for an empty transport.

| I agree with Tiri Rana, don't even deploy them in the raider. And as far as cover on the first turn is concerned, you can fit a lot more raiders with flickerfields for the price than you can take raiders as cover screens (plus they work against ignores cover weapons too, and aren't affected by markerlights) | |

| when we play 1500 and less its normaly 4x4. I thought that a unit had to start in it's transport. If thats not the case they will not start in the raider. The thing is normally i will start my venoms in front of my raiders, but usually i lose at least one venom. So the extra transport would be nice for them to jump in. I also only have 2 venom models at the moment, but i figured the raider could cover 2 other raiders instead of just one. i have found that the transports blowing up tend not to do too much to the units inside. maybe its just rolling. but some people forget that its not a str4 for open top its only str3. i think that i will at least drop it down to 3 trueborn at least then even if there is only one model left he won't need double ones to stay. | |

| It's S4 even for open topped vehicles in this edition I think. If you can point me to the rulebook page where it says S3 I'd be eternally grateful though! | |

| S4 on the occupants inside. They removed the exception for open topped vehicles in 6th edition. | |
