Looking for Inspiration for Razorwing Flocks

Hey fellow denizens of the Dark City.

I've recently bought the GW Razorwing Flock models, because I really like them. Aside from a few bubbles on one of the wings (which I'll be contacting their customer support about today), they look as amazing as I'd imagine, but I don't know how to paint them. I've scoured here and coolminiornot to see if there's anything which catches my eye, but can't find much. Has anyone thought of any interesting paint schemes to do with them, or something other than the stock GW scheme?

I was thinking about painting them to look like blackbirds, but make the feather fade into a metal, as if they are slowly becoming metal further down the feather, anyone else got any ideas?

Search keyword "bird" on google images (no joking, I do use google images very often for color schemes).
you will find plenty of "natural" sources of inspiration, some of which may be incredibly efficient on the table.

I did mine as 'blackbirds' with a diagonal highlight from the head to tail of my army's blue color and with the outer pinions of their wings and tail painted mithril and with a wash of Asurmen Blue (also same treatment to the beak) to make it look like their outer feathers were metal and knife-like)

You can see it pretty well in the above picture - zoom in on the DE model closest to the top of the image (right at the base of the left drop pod) it is one of my Razorwings decapitating a Ultrasmurf on a diorama base but, oddly, is nicely angled to see the paint scheme on the bird.
