PostSubject: 4 player free for all   4 player free for all I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 22 2013, 21:22

So I played a tournament this Saturday and wanted to give a battle report on the how the games went. Its more like a summary than a real play by play of the event. I only grabbed pictures from 1 of the games as this was an overnight tournament and my phone was dead by game 2, since I forgot my charger Sad.

My List

HQ
Baron - 105
+2 St on the charge and +1 attack and +1 st for the hellglaive.

Fast Attack
4 Beastmasters, 10 kymera, 4 razorwing flocks - 204

Elites
4 blasterborn in a venom with duel splinter cannons, grisley trophies - 178

Troops
10 warriors, splinter cannon, blaster in a raider with splinter racks, grisley trophies - 175
5 warriors, blaster in a venom with duel splinter cannons, grisley trophies - 130
5 warriors, blaster in a venom with duel splinter cannons - 125
5 warriors, blaster in a venom with duel splinter cannons - 125

Heavy Support
Ravager - 105

Ravager - 105

I forgot to field my last venom with warriors for the event for some reason. I don't know how that happened but it did. I was really mad went i realized it when i got home. How dumb! Ok done with my rant.

Rules
4 players per table
2 play matt's set up in a cross shape, (think red cross shape)
5 objectives. 1 in each deployment and one in the middle
Center worth 4, across from you worth 3, either flank is worth 2, and your own is worth 1.
Each turn you pick a card, Ace through 4 and that is your turn. The next turn you pick again. So you can go twice in a row or go from 1st to 4th and not get a turn for a long time.
First blood is done where you get 3 points instead of 1 but to get the points you add up everyone's kill points at the end of turn 3 and the winner gets first blood.
A secondary objective is randomly done and created before the tournament. The first being KP derived (kill this type of units more than others.), the second one being area derived (having troops in specific areas of the battle field at the the end), third one being a bunch of random stuff.

Game 1

I was on a table with IG, Tyranids, and Eldar. I made sure I was next to the IG guy since I knew I was going to have easy pickings against him with how the tables are set up.

I drew to go last for first turn which had me a bit worried. The advantage of this was that I was going to set up last as well. With IG right next to me, who deployed first, i knew he wasnt going to be able to guess my tactics. Tyranids to my other flank were dumb and deployed closer to me then to the eldar player that was to his right. For some reason he thought it wise to pick a fight with the DE. So I set up very far away from him and in range of only 1 of his heavy troops that could shoot my ships. Then I deployed my beasts as close to IG as possible and in cover, which i conveniently put right there when we set our terrain. IG not knowing that i was going to setup like i did, deployed centrally with his tanks on the other side of the table, giving me no obsticles to go through in order to get my first turn charge. Too easy Smile

First turn, I got pelted with some fire power from IG now that he saw the threat. He tried to make a treaty with me but the dark kin were not interested in making friends but instead feasting on squishy IG pain. I only lost a Ravager to IG and a beast or 2. Eldar did nothing to me as they were too far away and had to deal with IG on their flank as well. (thank you tanks) Tyranids stun a raider, how pathetic and stupid of him. I finally got to go and man what a turn it was. I started by raping and pillaging IG's entire right side of his force. Including a basalisk (sp) his AGL gun, and my beasts taking care of some other artillary and his HQ troops. I then turned and shot the crap out of some tyranids making them quickly understand their flaw in tactics. VENOM dumb dumb.

The second turn was basically more of me raping the IG's back lines and shooting tyranids for some easy KP's. Eldar getting hurt by some IG tanks and tyranids just doing some annoying things that didnt have much impact.

Third turn was when we decided that it was going to be the last turn due to time. The Tyranid person always took FOREVER!!!! He didnt even have much to do. It was dumb because I could have gotten more points but what ever. Eldar was in position to get the middle objective and all my stuff was out of position to get the now desolate land that was IG's deployment. Had I got to play one last turn I would have been able to get some troops over their in time. In order to block Eldar I turboed a raider in front of his troops and next to the middle objective. I then shot the waive serpent they were in so they had to disembark. My seondary was to destroy more AV than any other player on the table which is the other reason I had to kill that Waive serpent. I then made sure to mop up any kill points I could and get my troops disembarked onto my objective.

The last turn IG tried to bomb my guys on my own objective and then tried the same thing with eldar. Eldar got destroyed but the dark kin were saved by some bad IG shooting. Serves him right. Tyranids then deep struck his units right into my deployement zone to try and shoot me off my objective. Again to no avail, as the dark kin were able to take some shots and only 3 died out of the 5 their. They then supprisingly made their Ld check and stayed. Eldar, who were now kicked off of their objective and had no chance to claim it had to figure out how to get the middle. My raider was in its way and needed to  be destroyed. Which was exactly my plan! He was getting ready to destroy it when some other wise guy, not even playing, showed him my master plan of allowing it to be destroyed and then my troops would be able to disembark right onto the objective. He would then have to hope they got pinned or fled in order to keep me from getting the center objective. DARN IT! he decided it wasnt worth the tiny chance he would have been able to get their instead.

At the end I was in second in the tournament and it was time to move to another table where the first player was placed.

Second game

I was on a table with that same tyranid player, a marine player (first place guy), and some ugly orks. I was then set right next to marines, which now that I'm thinking of it, was not a good idea and could have played out better. None the matter, I wanted to destroy them. My blood thirst neglected to let me see that by allowing them to live, I could have destroyed the tyranids guy again and get more KP's. Oh well. I deployed next to the marines and orks instead.

The game went as follows. I did the same baron and beasts trick against the marines, which they were well prepared for this time and thusly me not able to get to a first turn assault. This i payed for dearly as they were shot up for 2 turns (i drew the card for last on the second turn allowing the marines to shoot twice in a row at them. The orks were wrecking the Nids since the guy was tactically dumb as could be. I was able to take out some easy targets towards the end giving me first blood and able to get my secondary objective which was simply have guys in either flank's deployment zone and guys in the middle. The ork player took my same bait I put out for the middle objective i did over on the other table. He shot my venom with blasterborn in it and instead of blowing up it just wrecked and gave them the perfect position to get to the middle objective which he had already locked up. He could have just done nothing and got the points. Good thing I provoked him by having them shoot his truck the turn before :)lol.

I was now in First.

Third game.

I was on a table with IG again, the orks again, and CSM which were now in third. They all made a "treaty" to try and destroy me first turn. I set up next to IG and next to the orks again. IG went first and shot at me ofcoarse. CSM went second and proceeded to already backstab the dumb orks who thought they would keep their word. Come on now. They are the CSM. That made it simply me against IG. He had his tanks trying to block baron from getting in close which didnt work. Good thought though. Unfortunately he didnt account for me making my 12 in move and actually making a 9 inch charge. Thank you fleet. I couldnt have last game happen again. As I destroyed him in close combat he was destroying my paper planes left and right. We knocked each other pieces. I was really lucky though since my secondary was to challenge 5 times and he had plenty of sgt's and his HQ in the main event with baron. He made all of his challenges one by one. The problem was I couldnt do anything to the CSM who had a huge advantage over the unsuspecting orks. He destroyed them, took their objective and got the first blood and his secondary objective. He took 9 points and I only got 4. This pushed him into first. UGH! Darn the alliance between IG and CSM (they came together so they worked together.)

Hopefully you didnt fall asleep. I wish i would have taken pics and good notes but I was cought up in playing and forgot lol. Not bad though for having another 130 pts less then everyone else on the table.

Nice read. I'd be a bit pissed about the teamwork at final table. But then again, anything to win right? FFA is tough, and by the looks of it you did very well with that in mind.
