| The Ovatan Dynasty was a small but loyal to the C'tan. Because of their devotion to the C'tan, believing that their transference from biological form to cold metal was the right path to take, this dynasty was blessed by the Deciever. But during the war against the C'tan the Ovatan Dynasty lost almost everything Due to being a smaller and weaker dynasty, it was almost completely destroyed by collateral damage. Phaeron Solakhin was at the time of the betrayal still loyal to the C'tan and this new soulless form. But because of the Silent King's command protocols and influence, he could not side with the C'tan. Solakhin obeyed and fought against the C'tan, regretting every strike against them. When the Necrons had won the war and caged the C'tan in tesseract labyrinths, the Ovatan Dynasty was destroyed by the Silent King, who feared that the dynasty's loyalty to the C'tan would bring betrayal to his people. Phaeron Solakhin was slain in his crownworld. But the Deciever was prepared.
Before the Silent King's betrayal, the Deciever had created secret command protocols and duped the minds of the higher ranking echolon of the Ovatan Dynasty. Metal shells in obsidian-black, faces adorned in gold, these were imprinted with these command protocols and Lords and Overlords had their copy of their minds imprinted as well. With the permission of Phaeron Solakhin, his mind was also imprinted. The practise of copying a necron individual's mind was almost impossible. But the Deciever apparently had that power. These copies was stored in secret and hidden around the Ovatan crownworld. A unique small space-craft was also hidden, together with Complex mindslave technologies. These were also provided by the Deciever.
When the Necrons went to sleep, these copies were already asleep.
Inquisitor Ingis Guin of the Orde Xenos, had researched mysterious Necrons for his entire career, had uncovered perhaps a significant threat to the Imperium. He found out that Necrons have actually been active long before M41. By investigating old recordings throughout the sector, he suspected that there was one particular necron faction that was not like the others.
The Ovatan Dynasty had awoken for many millennium ahead of the other dynasties because of different sleep protocols. When the dynasty awoke, they travelling space slowly and secretly to every edge of the universe. Tomb worlds mysteriously awakes where Solakhin travels to and even more mysterious is the why those tomb world join the Ovatan Dynasty. It is believed that Solakhin uses mindslaving devices to take control of the slumbering necrons and autonoms, thus entire tomb worlds can easily fall under his command. With such powerful device and with a head start, Solakhin could have attempted to take control of entire dynasty if not every necron tomb world long ago. So why travel in secret and carefully, awakening a few tomb worlds at the time? Why this discretion? Why have they traveled all over the universe?
At this moment, things has changed. A small and unique necron craft was sighted in Segmentum Obscurus, identical to one that was recorded in M35 near the Eastern Fringe. Ingis believes that this is the same craft, and by his knowledge and research, this one is unique even to the Necrons. He believes that the necron craft is heading towards Naogeddon, a plant affiliated to the Necrons.
To confirm his theory, he had sent scanning teams to the planet. Off-planet images revealed little, the planet was in constant darkness and covered by dust-storms. Only by sending down investigation teams were they able to reveal a horrifying truth. The images after penetrating the dust storms revealed millions of faint and tiny dots on the surface of Naogeddon. When on ground, it was pitch black and nothing could be seen in the dark. But when the searchlights were turned on, golden skulls could be seen hovering from the ground. Closing in, like ghosts floating towards you slowly. And in millions.
Now the time has come, the great Deciever's scheme is unveiling. Can you guess what Solakhin is doing? What did Ingis uncover and how did a planet filled with necron warriors go unnoticed?
-------------------------------------------
So here is my necron army that I started painting about one year and a half ago. This is my first army since I got started again after leaving the hobby 10 years ago. Now, I've not touched these guys for like nine months, I think I got fed up painting them at that time. This is why most of the necron warriors and scarabs are not done. I'm still missing alot of touch-ups and highlights. And fixing bases...
My painting skills aren't that great, I started learning a lot more recently and gotten more free time to paint. Currently giving my DE army alot more love, which I will make a project log for in short.
Enjoy and feel free to leave feedbacks on how to improve my painting! | |

| Great looking models you have there. I like the combination of black/grey with yellow and a bright gold. It really makes the models pop. You're also very clean with your painting and highlighting. Good quality all the way through Show us more! | |

| @Dogmar - Thanks for the kind words! Took me 4-5 months to come up with these colors, was afraid of them being too bright but I'm relieved that you like it @Saintspirit - At the moment I'm not painting necrons, gonna get my DEs up... Hopefully I'll be able to deliver models at the same quality as these, if not better! I'll make a plog for them later. I'm happy to hear that you like the lords | |

| This is a great colour scheme, very simple and yet very effective. The army as a whole has a striking look to it. The yellow with the gold is a nice touch.
And as Dogmar noted, you are very clean and neat. I shelved my Necrons for several months as I couldn't decide on a final scheme, I have the colours but not the right combination it feels. Plus I need to be neater with my painting and I don't want to proceed until I can achieve that. Perhaps this will give me the prod in the backside that I need to get going again.
Congratulations, very well done facelessabsalom. Looking forward to seeing more.

| @foo - I'm glad that you like these, thank you!
@gobs - Ofc! I used skull white and flashgitz yellow for these yellow. Base it skulle white, then mix yellow and white and apply in 3-4+ layers, the first one kind of thick but not too excessive. The ratio start if 1:1, but as it goes on I put in more and more white until I like the shade. It could end up with 1:10 ratio, favouring white a whole lot. Sometimes i just put a single drop of yellow into my white on the last layers. To finish it up just use skulle white to paint the lightning streaks. I hope this helps! | |
