| Hello denizens of the dark city!
I have been thinking about running asdrubael Vect for some time. I have made my own model for him now and was pleased with the outcome.
I really want to field him on the battlefield, but i am not sure which units works well with him.
It's primarily for 1500 Pts. play in a tournament. Is he just too Pricey for such a low game size?
Last question. Which units do you think will work well with Vect? I have models for most things except for incubi, harlequins and wracks.

| I find Vect to be too expensive at 1500 pts.. I have a hard time finding room for him at 1850 too.
The best escort for Vect is, imho, 4 Grotestques. They give him T5 and can soak quite lot of wounds. The only downside of this squad is that it's probably going to wipe whatever it touches in a single assault (well all non-cc dedicated units at least).
Wyches and Bloodbrides are decent too but they're mostly ablative wounds for him.

| Thanks deamon! I was thinking just the same as you said.
Grotesques was the only unit i was thinking to be suitable. Again we are talking about 400-500 pts for 2 units.
I'd in a haemie for furious charge in that unit as well.

| I find vect to be worth the points if you really want to seize. He's pretty beastly in cc, but that initiative roll is what makes him really shine. | |

| Harlequins, he gives them Prefered Enemy and provide reliable AP3 atacks, while they crush with rending.
Also rules for shadowseer allow this deathstar to actually survive.
Grotesques also nice.
WIth Vect you should realise one thing - if he is on board - he is target N1. Or rather any mobility tool he have.

| I've been running Vect pretty regularly now with five Incubi and a Haemonculus at 1850. They'll roll through anything short of Assault Terminators with Storm Shields. Vect & Co. will draw massive amounts of firepower and the unit is difficult to justify at times, particularly in a competitive environment.
@1500, he's pretty hard to justify although you can run him. The nice thing is that you can play mind games with your enemies by giving them first turn and forcing a defensive deployment.
Ultimately, the choice to take him should be determined by a variety of factors, such as (1) how assault oriented your army is, (2) the expected composition of opponents, (3) how much you want first turn, and other variables.

| I think the best synergy for Vect is with the Baron. Use the Baron's bonus to choose second and encourage your opponent to deploy centrally. Then counter deploy and use Vect to seize the initiative for a strong alpha strike. He's a very expensive model and I would only use him if I was trying some kind of initiative seizing gimmick, otherwise a melee archon is probably better. | |

| I recently was thinking of using the new Pref Enemy rules with him to throw him a unit of Splinterborn, with the Duke. Hitting and wounding on 3s rerolling ones will force so many saves it will be unbelievable although for it to stay mobile will be hard unless you have some Incubi or other scary threat to distract from the raider these guys will be in. | |

| Interesting ideas. I tried harlequins and it worked pretty well. Next up, i'll try grotesques | |

| I used him in a game of 850 and tabled Blood Angels. Did very well even though he was locked in a challenge with Asorath the Grim. (both had 2+ saves) but Vect took the day in turn 4. That was the turning point in the game. I plan to use him from now on. | |

| Best i can offer is a bait and switch trap. Put vect with a large unit of revers and let your opponent try to assault. A squad in pod. After they deploy let the bikes seperate and bladevane over them without boosting. And let vect get into assault range. Next shoot with the reavers snd vect and then follow with reavvers assaulting. Then vect. Should be an easy kill but its only a 1 time use realy. Once opponents see you use it they wont get close again. But thats when you use them seperatly and keep the reavers in TB range incase vect gets caught out in the open and needs a emergency coversave by intercepting LOS and/or join the unit to gain a T4 and 5+coversave. The reavers will have a 3+ for that turn which should buy vect time to "tacticaly reposition". | |

| One problem: You cannot Bladevane without Turboboosting. | |
