Hellion Hammer of Wrath Empty
PostSubject: Hellion Hammer of Wrath   Hellion Hammer of Wrath I_icon_minitimeWed Aug 21 2013, 21:30

I was just wondering at what strength Hellions give Hammer of Wrath attacks under various conditions:

- with Hellglaive
- with Hellglaive and Grave Lotus drugs
- with Hellglaive and Furious Charge

or more aptly "What strength bonuses work on Hammer of Wrath attacks?"

It says in the 40k BRB that Hammer of Wrath attacks are delivered at unmodified strength, but the FAQ says the Baron's skyboard gives +2 S to his HoW. Sometimes I think that when discussing unmodified stats, GW means before including weapons. So my interpretation is the Grave Lotus and Furious Charge contributes (S5 HoW) but the Hellglaive doesn't.

That would make way too much sense... GW contradictory FAQ to the rescue (from the main rule book FAQ)!

Q: When a model makes a Vector Strike or Hammer of Wrath, do
these attacks benefit from any special rules (such as Furious Charge,
Poisoned or Rending), or any weapons or other wargear it is
equipped with? (p37/43)
A: No.

I am consistently amazed at how good GW is at writing rules (not).

S3 is not the best, I thought I'd have at least the Grave Lotus.

The only reasoning I can see for making baron an exception for the rule is how big is skyboard is suppose to be, thats it.

Let's face it. GW dropped the ball on this FAQ answer. There is absolutely no reason why Baron's HoW attack should benefit from his Skyboard bonus but GW say it does so that's how it's played.
