Really quick question

When kitting out a trueborn dracon, there is an option to give him a venom blade or an agoniser in place of his ccw.
Is it just me or is the agoniser actually worse than the venom blade and costs 15 points more.

Am I missing something?

Agoniser is a Power Weapon, AP4, so ignores 4+ armour or worse; against Marines, Venom Blade is better.

Agoniser isn't AP4 it's AP3 so ignores 3+ saves or worse. So it's better than the venom blade against marines and MCs with 3+ or worse armour.

As a random addendum - the V.Blade is better versus armor saves of 2+ just because it will wound more.

It's a very iffy line between which of the weapons is better, and it keeps shifting with the meta (which has been jumping around like crazy of late).

Thanks Mush, I'd lumped Power swords and Agonisers as AP4, no idea why!

the different power weapons are as follows:

Power Sword: Strength: User, AP:3
Power Maul: Strength: User +2, AP:4
Power Axe: Strength: User +1, AP:2, Unwieldy
Power Lance: On the charge: Strength: User +1, AP:3; Rest of the time, Strength: User, AP4

Agonisers are considered Unusual Power Weapons as per the BYB, so its AP:3

Huskblades were FAQed to AP:2 as per the DE FAQ
