| I've taken a bit of a break from painting up the last of my Dark Eldar to refresh my interest in 40k. (Not abandoning the evil space elves, but need a little break from painting all things evil, purple, and pointy ) The LFGS's winter league has an interesting format in which you choose one 1,000pt core list that you must use every game and 3 500pt attachments that you may select prior to deployment/after reading the mission. All 2,500 combined points use a single FOC, though one of the 500pt attachments may be an allied one. I wanted to play one of my armies that needed updating. After looking through my Tau(too cheesy), Eldar (too close to DE), old school Cadian IG (too much money to update with cool new toys), Space Wolves (Not in the mood), and CSM army (WAY too much to paint), I decided on revamping my old Crimson Fist army. I've had it since the mid-90's, though many of the original models have been traded/filtered out. The majority of the painted force is from 98'-02' when I played them to get a break from the playing style of my old DE. I ran a primarily Tac-squad heavy army and never really did much in the way of Termies and other goodies. The release of the previous codex did see me buy/paint the Pedro Kantor model (because he is so boss) and the obligatory box of Sternguard (which I never assembled). After painting Kantor and playing a single game I shelved the army due to painting burnout (I was doing army commissions at the time and hated painting until I stopped painting for others/starting painting the new DE models ) My old force needed updates and touch ups here and there to make them table-worthy again and fun to play. This consists of combi-weapon swaps for PF sergeants, adding typhoon launchers to the old Land Speeders (Typhoons used to only come in squadrons of 1!), a Thunderfire Cannon, actually painting those Sternguard, adding Terminators, and other cool goodies. My first unit that I assembled out of old bikes and a Ravenwing battleforce box is in my 500pt fast attachment: Some of the bike models were from back in the mid-90's! I never used them much in 3rd-5th because of the high point cost/low effectiveness. Can't believe they used to be 35pts each in 3rd... A bit more of the captain on bike: I'm painting an Aegis Line and Thunderfire right now and will post pics later.

| Thanks! Got some work in on the Techmarine gunner: I absolutely LOVE the current and old Techmarine models. I'm half-tempted to paint up a couple of old ones(I have the old 2nd edition one and the 3rd edition one from the old command box). I don't use them all that often, but may find room if they look good enough I'm hoping to have this guy done today, perhaps finish off that Aegis line that I've been working on next week. | |

| That techmarine looks pretty cool, but how come he is red with blue accents? Shouldn't it be the other way around with Crimson Fists? Also, your not getting any other comments except mine, quite depressing lol | |

From wh40k.lexicanum.com: A Techmarine's Power Armour is modified to accommodate his cybernetic enhancements and his armour's backpack is also upgraded with several servo-arms and mechadendrites. His armour bears the rust-red colours of the Adeptus Mechanicus, but his Chapter badge is retained and displayed on one of the shoulder guards, so as not to disrespect the armour's spirit. While some of the newer Space Smurf (Ultramarine) techmarine models have been painted in chapter colors with some red, I prefer the old-school method of painting them in the Adeptus red scheme with a normal chapter shoulder. | |

| Cool stuff ESE. I have a space wolves and an adeptus custodes army (played as grey knights) for when I need a change in playstyle or to paint something different. I am a bit of a hobby butterfly so having alot of variation is always good. Also having a different game system to dip into can be healthy for your hobby mojo when 40k gets a bit of a grind ( just started a dreadball team, have an infinity faction and bought myself a few of the new wryd plastic models as well). Look forward to more hobby goodness from ya | |
