Hey all,

if a unit like Beasts ignores difficult terrain, does it charge with its full Initiative or is it still reduced to I1 ?

Beasts do not ignore difficult terrain.
They are simply not slowed by it.

The rules are a little futzy in their wording, but the general agreement is that they do still take the initiative penalty. That's another reason Baron Sathypants is good with them, because he gives the Razorwings grenades.

They can grip them by the husk...

Aha. So a unit that does ignore difficult terrain like Reavers, for example, would not suffer the Initiative penalty then?

Reavers also do not ignore terrain. Their relevant rules for assault are on pg. 45

I think currently C'tan are the only true 'ignores terrain' unit that can assault (though I do not recall the current super heavy rules, and am too lazy to look them up I'll admit), and that only due to the 'Immune to Natural Law' rule.

You're in London, I think you were obligated to get the reference.

This is addressed in the FAQs.

Q: Do models that ignore difficult terrain when moving or charging still fight at Initiative step 1 if they charge through difficult terrain? (p22)
A: Yes
