iron within! iron without!

Long time I haven't posted here. Happy new year all at the Dark City!  
Here is the reason why....

I retrieved all my 2nd Ed. metal chaos space marines, and I decided to (re-)paint them the "easy" way... Iron Warriors.
The project is to make a fluffy 1500 pts army withOUT any hellturkey nor big fiends. Only chaos engineers, and corrupted sappers, dozer blades, siege shields and a nice yellow on black aegis defence line (with a big quad gun of course!).
If I follow the IW background, normally units should be composed by multiple of three, so 6-men or 9-men units, which is totally not competitive :p .

I bought some 40mm bases for terminators (mine were still on 25mm) and one FW missile launcher for the dreadnought (I still have the old school pincer, in case of I change my mind ...). The Warpsmith is a converted chosen form Dark Vengeance. Some details may be improved, but I'm quite happy with the results.

Still on my desk, to be painted : one havoc squad (metal), one rhino, 12 CSM + some rogue trader chaos termis.

Love these! Is that D string from a bass on the warpsmith? Great conversion!

You're right ESE, this is a bass string  

The servo arm was taken from one of my old plastic toys called ZOIDS (I got 5 or 6 of them).

I did have the advantage of being a bassist   
Very cool application of ZOIDS bits for a great conversion. Looking forward to more in this thread.

Random marines + havoc squad.
The main parts are metal (end of 90s, bodies, weapons), some others are more recent plastic bits.
I painted them a bit "sludgy" on the metalic armor parts, and cleaner on the black/gold shoulder pads in order to give an "un-natural" contrast. I don't know if it works or not.
